Mechanical Engineering

Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) Surabaya since the academic year 1993/1994, has held a Master Program (Postgraduate) in Mechanical Engineering based on the Decree of the Directorate General of Higher Education Indonesia No. 109/DIKTI/KEP/1993. The spirit of enhancing human resources undertakes the desire to actively participate in a Master Degree educational program, especially for individuals who choose careers in mechanical engineering, considering the era of industrial growth and the development of science and technology requires a qualified bachelor to compete in the industry.

This program is also supported by 34 lectures with qualifications, such as four professors, 19 doctors, and 11 masters. Supporting facilities are also available as follows: lecture room, nine laboratories and workshops, reading room with more than 5000 library materials, ten international scientific journals, ten national scientific journals, including free internet connections and other facilities.

Goals

The Master Program of Mechanical Engineering Study aims to produce academics and professionals who have a strong background in science and technology with sharp analytical skills. Graduates of the Master Program expected to have more scientific abilities in their fields of expertise, in carrying out their profession, be it for research and development, as well as for further education.

Field of Interest

The Mechanical Engineering Study Program has three areas of expertise that students can choose according to their talents and abilities, which includes:

  • MANUFACTURING SYSTEM

Learn how to design a machine tool based on Kinematics, Dynamics, Mechanical Mechanics, and Mechanical Elements courses that apply to subjects in Lift, Vibration, Advanced Mechanical Mechanics, Experiment Voltage Analysis, and Vibration Mechanics. Related fields: Thermodynamics, Fluid Mechanics, Heat Transfer

  •  ENERGY CONVERSION ENGINEERING

Learn how to convert energy from its source into useful energy from these courses: Thermodynamics, Fluid Mechanics, Heat Transfer. You can also study its application in these courses, such as Fluid Machines, Lifting Plane, Solar Energy, Cooling Engineering, Aerodynamics, and Internal Combustion Motors. Related fields: Mechanics, Manufacturing Processes, Industrial Metrology.

  • MECHANICAL SYSTEM DESIGN

Related Fields: Mechanics, Dynamics Kinematics, Machine Elements

Academic Activities

The Master Program of Mechanical Engineering lasts for 4 semesters (2 years), with a maximum time limit for the study period is four years. The minimum credit load is 40 credits, including a thesis by the curriculum. The first semester starts in early September, while the second semester begins in early February and ends in June.

Supporting Facilities

The adequate laboratory equipment and spaces are necessary, both for support the learning process for students, supporting academic staff research, and strengthen the role of consultancy with the industry. With 21 laboratories supported by 29 testbeds, 51 demonstration units, 253 measuring devices, and 107 tools, the Mechanical Engineering Department have an excellent opportunity to develop itself in running the Tri Dharma Perguruan Tinggi.
