MASTER'S STUDY PROGRAM (S-2, M.T.) & DOUBLE DEGREE MASTER'S PROGRAM (S-2, M.SC.) MARINE ENGINEERING
Marine Engineering is the only master's degree program in Indonesia that offers advanced education related to marine system technology. The Master's Study Program in Marine Engineering specializes its curriculum in technology development within the scope of marine engineering originating from a multidisciplinary blend, particularly related to engineering fields. The Master's Study Program in Marine Engineering has core competencies in research design and system engineering on floating structures/offshore structures, ranging from machinery systems, propulsion, electrical, piping, navigation, reliability, risk management of oil and gas operating systems, to safety systems supporting such designs.

Research The Department of Marine Engineering holds a strong position in several marine engineering fields. Key research focus areas of the Department of Marine Engineering include:
  • Marine Machinery and System [MMS Lab]: Conducts research on marine machinery related to fluids, heat control and transfer, thermodynamics, marine piping systems, ship fuel and lubricant systems, and HVAC.
  • Marine Power Plant [MPP Lab]: Conducts research on marine machinery related to ship propulsion and power systems, engine propeller matching (EPM), marine fuel products, alternative fuels, emission control, and machinery vibration.
  • Marine Manufacturing and Design [MMD Lab]: Conducts research on manufacturing design and engineering and marine machinery design, CAD & CAM, ergonomics, materials, and strength.
  • Marine Electrical and Automation [MEAS Lab]: Power electronics, electrical machinery and drives, instrumentation and control systems, electrical installation, and protection systems.
  • Marine Reliability and Availability, Management, and Safety [RAMS Lab]: Conducts research on marine machinery related to ship safety systems, navigation, maritime economics, reliability, and risk management.
  • Marine Operation and Maintenance [MOM Lab]: Conducts research on marine machinery related to maintenance management systems, surveys, ship inspection, asset integrity management.

DOCTORAL STUDY PROGRAM (S-3) IN MARINE ENGINEERING

DOCTORAL DEGREE OF MARINE ENGINEERING The need for research experts in Marine Engineering is based on Indonesia's position as the world's largest archipelagic country with abundant natural resources and new and renewable energy potential, making Indonesia highly significant in terms of maritime-based technology and economy. This condition birthed the government's vision to make Indonesia a Global Maritime Fulcrum. To realize this vision, the government drafted a work program to develop maritime culture, manage maritime resources, build maritime infrastructure and connectivity, as well as handle maritime diplomacy and defense-security. The success of this government work program requires human resource capabilities in the maritime sector, specifically in Marine Engineering. Therefore, expert research specialists are needed to realize Indonesia's vision, particularly in the field of Marine Engineering. Against this background, the Department of Marine Engineering conducts the Doctoral Study Program in Marine Engineering as the only Doctoral program in Indonesia offering education in Marine Engineering. The Doctoral Study Program in Marine Engineering has core competencies in research design and system engineering on floating structures/offshore structures, ranging from machinery systems, propulsion, electrical, piping, navigation, reliability, risk management of oil and gas operating systems, to safety systems supporting such designs.
