Information Technology today is a rapidly developing field. Fast developments in this field have led to the creation of employment opportunities in many sectors, such as government, higher education, service companies, software houses, and banking. This means Information Technology holds great potential to help improve the Indonesian economy, which is currently still affected by the monetary crisis of recent times. Seeing the opportunity to meet the demand for qualified human resources in the Information Technology field, the ITS Postgraduate Informatics Master's Study Program offers a Master's (S-2) education program that can meet market needs for human resources in Informatics who are qualified in both theoretical and practical aspects, as well as able to adapt to rapid developments in this field.
The Department of Informatics under the Faculty of Information Technology (FTIF) opened the Informatics Master's (S-2) Study Program starting in the 1996/1997 academic year. From the 1993/1994 academic year to the 2004/2005 academic year, it has graduated 94 alumni out of 663 enrolled students.
Supported by 25 academic staff with qualifications: 4 Professors and 21 Masters. Available supporting facilities include: Fully AC Classrooms with LCDs, 6 Laboratories, Discussion Rooms, a Reading Room with more than 2,000 library materials, international and national scientific journals, including Internet connection and other facilities.
Objectives
Education in the Informatics Master's Program aims to:
• Provide opportunities for bachelor's (S-1) graduates from disciplines related to Information Technology to continue to a higher level of education in the field of Informatics.
• Provide advanced knowledge in the field of Informatics through education and research.
• Increase the number of qualified experts in the field of Informatics to support market needs.

The Informatics Study Program has 2 fields of expertise that students can choose according to their talents and abilities, including:

Academic Activities
The Informatics Master's (S-2) Study Program is conducted over 4 semesters (2 years), with a total credit load of 40 credits (sks), consisting of 20 credits of mandatory course material (including thesis) and 20 credits of elective course material according to the curriculum. The academic calendar for Semester I begins in early September, while Semester II begins in early February and ends in June.
