The Department of Chemical Engineering under the Faculty of Industrial Technology (FTI) opened the Chemical Engineering Master's (S-2) Study Program starting in the 1993/1994 academic year. From the 1993/1994 academic year to the 2004/2005 academic year, it has graduated 100 alumni out of 325 enrolled students. Starting from the 2001/2002 academic year, the Doctoral Program in Chemical Engineering was officially opened.
Supported by 30 academic staff with qualifications: 4 Professors, 15 Doctors, and 11 Masters. The available supporting facilities are as follows: Classrooms, 15 Laboratories, a Reading Room with more than 6,000 library materials, 18 international scientific journals, Internet connection, and other facilities.
Objectives
Education in the Master's Program in Chemical Engineering aims to produce graduates who possess strong theoretical and application capabilities in Chemical Engineering, particularly to enhance research and design capabilities, enabling them to perform optimally in carrying out their duties.
Fields of Interest
The Chemical Engineering Study Program has fields of expertise that students can choose according to their talents and abilities, namely:
- PROCESS TECHNOLOGY, Includes courses such as Transport Phenomena, Advanced Chemical Reaction Engineering, Heat Exchanger Networks, Thermal System Analysis, Process Optimization, Catalysts, Coal Utilization Technology, and other courses.
Academic Activities
The Chemical Engineering Master's Program is conducted over 4 semesters (2 years), with a maximum study period limit of 4 years. The total credit load is 40 credits (sks), consisting of 31 credits of mandatory and elective courses and 9 credits of thesis according to the curriculum. The academic calendar for Semester I begins in early September, while Semester II begins in early February and ends in June.
The study load for the Chemical Engineering Doctoral Program is 40 credits (sks) (6 semesters) for candidates with a linear Master's degree and 52 credits (sks) (7 semesters) for candidates with a non-linear Master's degree. Implementation of the study load is in accordance with the curriculum.
