Tidak tinggal diam, tim <a href=\"https:\/\/www.its.ac.id\/news\/2024\/04\/22\/its-naik-peringkat-ii-pendanaan-pkm-terbanyak-nasional\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Program Kreativitas Mahasiswa &#8211; Riset Eksakta<\/a> (PKM-RE) <a href=\"http:\/\/its.ac.id\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS)<\/a> berhasil menginovasikan nanofluida yang mampu meningkatkan produktivitas ekstraksi energi panas bumi menjadi energi listrik hingga 21,3 persen.<\/h4>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Lebih rinci, anggota tim PKM-RE ITS Wury Handayani menjelaskan, nanofluida yang dikembangkan timnya ini merupakan cairan berbasis air yang mengandung partikel nano inti seng oksida (ZnO). Partikel tersebut dipilih karena dikenal konduktivitas termalnya yang tinggi sehingga sangat efektif dalam mentransfer panas. \u201cNamun, partikel tersebut mudah mengendap sehingga kami menambahkan dua lapisan titanium dioksida (TiO2) untuk meningkatkan stabilitas nanofluida,\u201d tambahnya.<\/p>\n<p>Selanjutnya, tim dari <a href=\"http:\/\/its.ac.id\/tfisika\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Departemen Teknik Fisika ITS<\/a> ini menggunakan nanofluida tersebut dalam siklus rankine organik. Pada siklus ini biasanya dibutuhkan sebuah <em>boiler<\/em> untuk memanaskan air hingga mencapai titik didihnya 100 derajat celsius, sehingga dapat menghasilkan uap panas bertekanan tinggi untuk memutar turbin. Pasalnya, nanofluida core-shell ZnO@TiO2 ini memiliki titik didih yang relatif rendah sekitar 25 derajat celsius, sehingga dapat mempercepat penghasilan uap bertekanan tinggi. \u201cKarena panas dari perut bumi telah cukup untuk mendidihkan nanofluida ini, kami tidak memerlukan boiler air untuk menghasilkan uap sehingga lebih efektif,\u201d papar Wury.<\/p>\n<p>Dengan memanfaatkan nanofluida tersebut sebagai pengganti air, kapasitas energi listrik yang dapat dihasilkan oleh pembangkit listrik tenaga uap sebesar 1,3 megawatt. Jika inovasi ini diterapkan pada ribuan sumur minyak terbengkalai di Indonesia, diperkirakan produksi listrik nasional dapat bertambah hingga 20 gigawatt. Tim ini berhasil membawa pulang medali emas untuk kategori poster PKM-RE. Kejayaan ini merupakan kebanggaan tersendiri bagi tim karena berhasil mengharumkan nama almamater.<\/p>\n<p>Terakhir, mahasiswa asal Probolinggo tersebut berharap penelitian terhadap nanofluida ini dapat dikembangkan lagi lebih lanjut.
