Berangkat dari permasalahan ini, tim mahasiswa <a href=\"http:\/\/its.ac.id\">Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS)<\/a> pun menciptakan sumber energi ramah lingkungan dari bakteri limbah lumpur minyak.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Ketua Tim Gasoileum ITS Ramadhita Putra Purnomo menerangkan, oil sludge atau lumpur minyak merupakan salah satu limbah yang dihasilkan dari proses pengolahan maupun penyimpanan minyak mentah. Apabila limbah tersebut akan dibuang, perlu adanya perlakukan khusus agar limbah tidak mencemari lingkungan dan tidak jarang pula membutuhkan bantuan pihak ketiga untuk mengelolanya. \u201cBiaya yang digunakan untuk melibatkan pihak ketiga juga tidaklah sedikit,\u201d jelas pemuda yang biasa disapa Rama ini.<\/p>\n<p>Dengan latar belakang tersebut, Rama bersama rekannya Bryllian Michael Haholongan Kendek pun mencari jalan keluar agar perusahaan di industri minyak dan gas dapat menghemat biaya operasional dari pengelolaan limbah. Mulanya, secara terpisah limbah rumah tangga itu dipotong menjadi bagian kecil dan dicampurkan dengan asam klorida (HCl). \u201cTujuannya untuk memecah molekul glukosa nutrien menjadi lebih kecil,\u201d tambah pemuda yang akrab disapa Ian tersebut.<\/p>\n<p>Selanjutnya, lanjut Ian, nutrien dan lumpur itu dimasukkan ke dalam tabung berukuran 1.000 mililiter yang sudah terpasang anoda dan katoda multimeter. Disusunlah campuran tersebut untuk membentuk tiga lapis bagian dengan perbandingan 1:3. Di rentang waktu ke tujuh, energi listrik yang dihasilkan dari bakteri ini mencapai 21 watt atau setara dengan daya untuk menyalakan lampu senter. Selain itu, efisiensi coulombic atau efisiensi elektrokimianya mencapai 5,16 persen dan 1,49 persen.<\/p>\n<p>Hasil penelitian yang memuaskan ini pun telah mengantarkan Rama dan Ian menjadi juara I dalam ajang Forum Improvement &amp; Innovation Award (IIA) 2024, beberapa waktu lalu.
