Sayangnya, masyarakat Desa Bedali sebagai penghasil nanas terbesar di Kabupaten Kediri belum memanfaatkan peluang tersebut. Untuk itu, tim Kuliah Kerja Nyata Pengabdian Masyarakat (KKN Abmas) <a href=\"http:\/\/its.ac.id\">Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember<\/a> (ITS) menginovasikan alat <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">stripping<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> untuk mengolah limbah daun nanas menjadi benang dan komposit.<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Ketua tim KKN Abmas Devika Nurlaela Septiana menuturkan bahwa limbah daun nanas seringkali dianggap tidak bernilai dan dibuang oleh para petani setelah panen. Padahal, daun ini mengandung serat alami yang memiliki kekuatan tinggi dengan elastisitas baik. Hal ini membuat daun nanas sangat potensial untuk diolah menjadi produk bernilai tambah seperti benang dan komposit. \u201cSerat nanas pun memiliki ketahanan abrasi yang baik sehingga dapat bertahan lama,\u201d tambahnya.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Melihat keunggulan tersebut, Devika bersama 17 mahasiswa lainnya yang berasal dari <a href=\"https:\/\/www.its.ac.id\/tki\/id\">Departemen Teknik Kimia Industri<\/a> dan <a href=\"https:\/\/www.its.ac.id\/tmi\/\">Departemen Teknik Mesin Industri<\/a> menggagas sebuah alat <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">stripping<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> guna memaksimalkan produksi benang dan komposit yang berasal dari serat daun nanas. \u201cAlat ini dirancang untuk meminimalkan limbah, meningkatkan efisiensi energi, serta mengurangi biaya operasional,\u201d ungkap Devika.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Selanjutnya, mahasiswa angkatan 2021 ini menjelaskan bahwa proses pengolahan daun nanas untuk menghasilkan komposit dimulai dengan pemisahan serat yang dilanjutkan dengan pencucian dan pengeringan untuk memastikan kebersihannya. Setelahnya, serat akan dicampur dengan resin dan dimasukkan ke dalam cetakan yang kemudian diberi warna. Terakhir, akan dilakukan proses curing untuk mengeraskan komposit.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Berbeda dengan komposit, proses pengolahan serat daun nanas untuk menghasilkan benang dilakukan lebih sederhana. Setelah melewati proses pencucian dan pengeringan, serat akan diproses langsung di mesin <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">stripping<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> guna menghasilkan serat stapel dengan panjang bervariasi yang memiliki tingkat kehalusan hingga 4 mikrometer per inchi. Produk tersebut antara lain tas, vas bunga, maupun piring komposit. \u201cSerat ini juga mudah terurai sehingga dapat digunakan dalam industri tekstil ramah lingkungan,\u201d imbuhnya.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Tim yang dibimbing oleh Prof Dr Ir Soeprijanto MSc beserta 4 dosen lainnya ini pun menggelar pelatihan kepada masyarakat Desa Bedali terkait cara pengoperasian alat serta proses pengolahan serat daun nanas menjadi benang dan komposit. Pelatihan tersebut dilakukan secara komprehensif dan berkelanjutan untuk memastikan pemahaman masyarakat terkait penggunaan alat <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">stripping<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Dengan adanya inovasi ini, diharapkan produk-produk dari serat daun nanas dapat menjadi peluang bisnis baru di Desa Bedali.
