Merespons masalah ini, tim <a href=\"https:\/\/www.its.ac.id\/news\/2024\/09\/17\/kkn-abmas-its-ciptakan-pengusir-hama-berbasis-gelombang-ultrasonik\/\">Kuliah Kerja Nyata Pengabdian Masyarakat<\/a><a href=\"http:\/\/its.ac.id\"> Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember<\/a> (KKN Abmas ITS)\u00a0 menciptakan alat fermentasi dan pengering biji kakao berbasis monitoring. <\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Ketua tim KKN Abmas Ir I Putu Eka Widya Pratama SSi MSc RWTH mengungkapkan, kegiatan yang diselenggarakan di Desa Sukogidri, Jember ini bermitra langsung dengan PT Perkebunan Nusantara (PTPN). Sebagai salah satu perusahaan perkebunan tersohor, PTPN kerap kali mengalami kendala penjualan akibat biji kakao yang membusuk saat proses fermentasi dan pengeringan. \u201cMitra pun terpaksa menjual biji kakao mentah setengah dari harga aslinya,\u201d ungkapnya.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Merespons masalah ini, tim KKN <a href=\"https:\/\/www.its.ac.id\/news\/2023\/08\/18\/perdana-teknik-instrumentasi-its-gelar-pameran-tugas-akhir\/\">Departemen Teknik Instrumentasi (DTIn) ITS<\/a> menginisiasi pembuatan alat fermentasi dan pengering biji kakao berbasis monitoring. Lelaki yang akrab disapa Eka ini menyebut, alat ini diciptakan untuk mempermudah petani mengamati keberhasilan produksi biji kakao. Menurutnya, adanya alat ini juga ditujukan untuk meminimalisasi inefisiensi produksi yang akan berdampak pada salah satu sektor krusial penunjang ekonomi warga di Desa Sukogidri ini.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Dalam penjelasannya, Eka menjabarkan, proses produksi dimulai dengan proses pencucian biji kakao. Kemudian, biji kakao yang telah bersih dimasukkan ke dalam alat fermentasi dan ditambahkan air dengan perbandingan 1 : 0,5. Selama lima hari, kadar keasaman proses ini setidaknya harus mencapai nilai 4,5. Selain itu, intensitas kelembaban harus mencapai rentang nilai 80 persen dengan temperatur 27 derajat celcius. \u201cApabila nilai tersebut tercapai maka fermentasi dapat dinyatakan berhasil,\u201d timpal dosen asal Bali tersebut.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Setelah berhasil melalui proses fermentasi, biji kakao kemudian dapat masuk ke proses pengeringan. Anggota Laboratorium Instrumentasi Pengendalian DTIn ITS ini menjelaskan, alat pengering yang diciptakan timnya berbentuk seperti oven. Dengan kapasitas yang sama, alat ini dapat mengeringkan biji kakao dengan suhu maksimum 50 derajat celcius. Durasi waktu yang diperlukan berkisar pada rentang sepuluh menit.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Lelaki kelahiran 1992 ini menyebut, nilai pada setiap faktor yang digunakan sebagai standar merupakan gagasan ia dan timnya. Apabila selama proses fermentasi dan pengeringan berlangsung nilai-nilai tersebut tidak tercapai, maka terdapat kemungkinan produksi biji kakao telah gagal. Dengan sistem integrasi ini, para petani dapat memantau proses fermentasi dan pengeringan dengan mudah melalui ponsel dari mana saja tanpa terbatas jarak dan waktu. \u201cFitur ini juga salah satu yang paling membantu petani dan mendapat sambutan positif,\u201d ujarnya.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Menutup tuturannya, Eka berharap agar alat yang mereka kembangkan mampu meningkatkan kembali nilai produksi dan penjualan dari mitra.
