Seiring dengan pergeseran menuju energi yang lebih ramah lingkungan, <a href=\"http:\/\/its.ac.id\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS)<\/a> melalui <a href=\"https:\/\/www.its.ac.id\/tmaterial\/id\/beranda\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Departemen Teknik Material dan Metalurgi (DTMM)<\/a> pun mengambil peran penting dalam mewujudkan transisi energi ini.\u00a0<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Kepala Laboratorium Metalurgi dan Manufaktur DTMM ITS Sutarsis ST MSc PhD menegaskan, bidang teknik material dan metalurgi berperan krusial dalam menentukan masa depan industri otomotif. Salah satu kontribusi utamanya dapat terlihat pada pengembangan komponen-komponen vital untuk EV seperti baterai dan superkapasitor.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Akan tetapi, Sutarsis menjelaskan, penggunaan EV nyatanya masih bergantung pada Pembangkit Listrik Tenaga Batubara (PLTU) milik PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) dalam pengoperasiannya. Hal ini menyebabkan kendaraan ini tidak sepenuhnya ramah lingkungan. \u201cSaat ini EV di Indonesia masih bergantung pada penggunaan sumber energi listrik dari batubara untuk mengisi daya baterai EV,\u201d jelasnya.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Di tengah ironi penggunaan EV yang tidak sepenuhnya ramah lingkungan, hidrogen sebagai sumber energi muncul sebagai kandidat kuat pengganti bahan bakar minyak di masa depan. Kendaraan bertenaga hidrogen menawarkan performa tinggi dan jarak tempuh jauh. Kemudian gas tersebut dilewatkan ke<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> stack fuel cells<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> yang berisi kumpulan <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">membrane electrode assembly<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> (MEA). Dalam alat ini, gas hidrogen akan dipisahkan ion proton dan elektronnya oleh katalis yang terdapat di masing-masing MEA.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Sutarsis melanjutkan, ion proton yang dipisahkan akan melewati membran khusus, sedangkan elektron akan terkumpul menghasilkan arus listrik.
