Lantas, bagaimana solusi ini mampu memupuskan permasalahan yang menjangkit maritim hingga kini?<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Dosen<\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/seatrans.its.ac.id\"> <span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Departemen Teknik Transportasi Laut (DTTL)<\/span><\/a> <span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><a href=\"http:\/\/its.ac.id\">ITS<\/a>\u00a0Maulana Yafie Danendra ST MLog menerangkan bahwa International Maritime Organization (IMO) telah mencanangkan berbagai solusi untuk mengurangi emisi karbon dioksida. \u201cSalah satu solusi yang ditawarkan oleh badan yang bertanggung jawab atas keselamatan dan keamanan pelayaran internasional ini adalah memanfaatkan angin sebagai energi alternatif,\u201d tambahnya.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Sayangnya, penerapan angin saat ini belum bisa menggantikan bahan bakar secara sepenuhnya. Dosen yang mengampu Mata Kuliah Hambatan dan Propulsi ini mengungkapkan, angin baru bisa diterapkan sebagai sistem propulsi atau penggerak kapal tambahan. \u201cPemanfaatan tersebut diwujudkan pada penerapan <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">wind propulsion<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">,\u201d ujar dosen yang akrab disapa Yafie ini.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Sederhananya, <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">wind propulsion <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">merupakan sistem penggerak kapal yang memanfaatkan angin untuk mendapatkan energi. Sistem propulsi ini memiliki beberapa jenis, yaitu <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">sail on mast<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">turbosail, kite sail, <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">dan <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">flettner rotor<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">. \u201cYang membedakan hanyalah mekanisme kerja dari keempat sistem itu sendiri,\u201d terang pria kelahiran 1995 ini.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Lebih rinci, Yafie menerangkan, <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">sail on mast <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">merupakan jenis sistem propulsi yang paling mirip dengan kapal layar. Sistem kontrol pada jenis ini dapat mempercepat aliran udara yang melewati struktur menggunakan sistem hisap. \u201cAkibatnya, kapal dapat bergerak ke segala arah dengan mudah,\u201d jelas Yafie.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Sementara itu, <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">flettner rotor <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">memanfaatkan silinder tegak yang didirikan pada badan kapal. Ketika angin melewati silinder tersebut secara tegak lurus, sistem ini menerapkan efek Magnus. Efek ini merupakan fenomena aerodinamika yang terjadi saat sebuah benda berputar melalui udara untuk menghasilkan gaya dorong bagi kapal.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Terakhir, yakni sistem <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">kite sail<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> di mana kapal yang menerapkan sistem ini akan dipasangkan sebuah parasut atau kanopi yang berfungsi menangkap angin. Hal ini disebabkan oleh kecepatan angin di Indonesia yang masih tergolong rendah. \u201cApabila kecepatan angin di Indonesia masih rendah dan tidak stabil, akan terlalu beresiko untuk digunakan,\u201d tegasnya.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Selain kecepatan angin Indonesia yang masih rendah, kondisi cuaca yang tidak stabil juga menjadi salah satu momok yang menghambat penerapan sistem ini. Yafie berimbuh, tidak stabilnya cuaca membuat <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">wind propulsion <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">tidak bekerja secara optimal atau bahkan tidak dapat beroperasi.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Akan tetapi, bukan mustahil sistem penggerak tenaga angin dapat diterapkan di Indonesia.
