Pasalnya melalui lembar visi-misi yang disampaikan ke publik, Presiden dan Wakil Presiden terpilih, Prabowo Subianto dan Gibran Rakabuming Raka menargetkan program B50 akan tercapai pada tahun 2029. Akan tetapi, apa sebenarnya B50 itu?<\/span><\/h4>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Kepala Program Studi (Kaprodi) Teknik Pangan <a href=\"http:\/\/its.ac.id\">Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember<\/a> (ITS), Prof Dr Ir Arief Widjaja M Eng menjelaskan, \u00a0B50 merupakan campuran antara solar dengan minyak sawit yang telah dikonversi menjadi biodiesel. Sesuai namanya, kedua bahan kemudian dicampurkan dengan rasio 50 banding 50. \u201cPada dasarnya minyak sawit bukan jenis bahan bakar, sehingga perlu dikonversi terlebih dahulu menjadi biodiesel,\u201d terangnya.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Membahas mengenai cara pembuatan biodiesel, dosen Departemen Teknik Kimia ITS ini menyampaikan bahwa cara yang paling umum adalah dengan menambahkan alkohol ke dalam minyak sawit. Penambahan ini kemudian akan menghasilkan biodiesel dan gliserol. \u201cKemudian katalis berupa sodium hidroksida ditambahkan untuk membantu reaksi antara alkohol dengan minyak sawit,\u201d ujarnya<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Tidak hanya dari minyak sawit, Arief menyampaikan bahwa biodiesel sebetulnya juga dapat dibuat dari berbagai tumbuhan lainnya. Beberapa di antaranya adalah dari kelapa, biji matahari, jarak, dan lain-lain. \u201cApa pun yang bisa menjadi minyak goreng bisa dikonversi menjadi biodiesel\u201d tambahnya.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Ia menuturkan, alasan Indonesia memilih minyak sawit adalah karena jumlah bahan bakunya yang berlimpah. Kondisi ini membuat Indonesia mampu menghasilkan banyak biodiesel hanya dengan satu jenis bahan baku. Keseragaman bahan baku ini akhirnya membuat proses produksi menjadi lebih mudah karena tidak perlu menggunakan komposisi yang berbeda-beda.<\/span><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_91433\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-91433\" style=\"width: 1000px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-91433\" src=\"https:\/\/www.its.ac.id\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2024\/06\/zamesdm130619-3.jpeg\" alt=\"gambar biodiesel\" width=\"1000\" height=\"667\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.its.ac.id\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2024\/06\/zamesdm130619-3.jpeg 675w, https:\/\/www.its.ac.id\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2024\/06\/zamesdm130619-3-300x200.jpeg 300w, https:\/\/www.its.ac.id\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2024\/06\/zamesdm130619-3-355x237.jpeg 355w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1000px) 100vw, 1000px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-91433\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Tampilan biodiesel pada rasio campuran yang berbeda (sumber: ekonomi.bisnis.com)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Dalam penggunaannya, B50 ini tentu memiliki kekurangan dan kelebihannya sendiri dibandingkan dengan solar.\u00a0 Salah satunya kelebihan dari B50 adalah memiliki sifat pelumas. Dengan sifat ini, B50 tidak hanya dapat dimanfaatkan sebagai bahan bakar tetapi juga dapat membantu merawat mesin agar berumur lebih panjang.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Selanjutnya, meskipun sama-sama mengeluarkan emisi berupa karbon dioksida, B50 lebih ramah lingkungan dibandingkan solar. Hal ini disebabkan karena perbedaan garis waktu antara biodiesel dengan solar yang jauh berbeda sehingga memberikan dampak yang berbeda pula bagi lingkungan. \u201cBiodiesel berasal dari garis waktu saat ini sedangkan yang solar bersumber dari zaman pra sejarah,\u201d jelasnya.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Arief menerangkan, karbon dioksida yang dihasilkan oleh solar bersumber dari karbon dioksida dari jutaan tahun lalu yang terendap di dalam bumi. Berbeda dengan biodiesel yang karbon dioksidanya paling lama berasal dari lima tahun lalu. \u201cBukannya dibiarkan di dalam tanah, karbon dioksida dari jutaan tahun lalu tersebut justru dikeluarkan dan akhirnya mengganggu kesetimbangan di alam,\u201d ungkapnya.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Kendati demikian, Arief menyebutkan bahwa B50 juga memiliki beberapa kekurangan, salah satu yang paling mencolok adalah titik nyala B50 yang lebih tinggi dibandingkan solar. Kondisi ini membuat B50 berpotensi merusak mesin karena ketidaksesuaian antara spesifikasi mesin dengan bahan bakar. \u201cSuatu mesin tentu sudah di desain sesuai karakteristik bahan bakar tertentu, ketidaksesuaian karakteristik akan mengganggu proses di dalam mesin,\u201d tuturnya.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Untuk mengatasi masalah tersebut hal yang paling mungkin untuk dilakukan adalah menambahkan zat aditif pada B50 agar memiliki sifat yang lebih mirip dengan solar.
