Selama seharian semua peserta diajak menelusuri kampus ITS untuk mengambil data Sabtu kemaarin (20\/3). Berbekal laptop, handphone dan beberapa perangkat elektronik lainnya, mereka meneliti kualitas sinyal jaringan salah satu operator seluler. \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Ada beberapa informasi yang didapatkan dari drive test<\/em> ini. Meliputi server<\/em>, sinyal, transfer data atau yang lainnya,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d tutur Firman Yuriansyah salah seorang panitia.<\/p>\n

Ditemani oleh dua trainer dan dua mobil, delapan pererta yang mengikuti pelatihan ini memetakan datanya untuk dianalisa lebih lanjut. Dari analisa data yang dilakukan di lantai 6 perpustakaan ITS, muncul upaya planning<\/em> dan optimasi dari yang sudah ada. Kemampuan mencari, menganalisa dan mengolah data itulah yang menjadi target pencapaian dalam pelatihan ini. \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Karena sangat minim sekali lulusan bidang telekomunikasi yang mempunyai kemampuan praktis dalam bidangnya,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d ulas Firman.<\/p>\n

Dalam dunia telekomunikasi sendiri secara umum mencakup tiga bagian. Pertama ada vendor<\/em> seperti Nokia, Siemens, Sony Ericson dan lain-lain. Kedua adalah Operator<\/em> seperti Indosat, Telkomsel, Smart dll. Keduanya saling terhubung oleh Subcontractor<\/em>. Bagian terakhir inilah yang mensinkronkan antara kebutuhan Vendor<\/em> dan Operator<\/em>. <\/p>\n

Bagian ini pula yang menjadi fokus materi pelatihan berjudul Drive Test (DT) 2G\/3G.
Mahasiswa yang akrab dipanggil Firman ini mengatakan bila kemampuan praktis sebelum memasuki dunia kerja sangat menambah nilai plus bagi lulusan ITS. Terutama untuk mendapatkan sertifikasi dunia telekomunikasi yang sangat susah dan mahal untuk didapatkan. \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Kita juga  bekerjasama dengan CCNA (Cisco certified Network Assosiate, red.),\u00e2\u20ac\u009d ulasnya. Cisco adalah sebuah perusahaan telekomunikasi global yang berbasis di Amerika.<\/p>\n

Dengan adanya pelatihan ini, mahasiswa asal Surabaya ini berharap semakin banyak lulusan ITS yang sudah memiliki pengalaman kerja sebelum bekerja. Oleh karenanya, dalam pelatihan ini sengaja didatangkan alumni yang sudah lama bekerja di bidang telekomunikasi. \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Sekaligus untuk menjembatani alumni yang ada dengan para lulusan atau pun calon wisudawan,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d ungkap mahasiswa jurusan Teknik Elektro ini.<\/p>\n

Sementara itu Afif Zuhri menambahkan, bentuk pelatihan seperti ini sebenarnya sangat diharapkan oleh para alumni Teknik Elektro. Maklum semua anggota ICT ITS adalah mahasiswa Teknik Elektro dari beragam angkatan. \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Mereka menilai lulusan ITS itu banyak memiliki IP bagus namun minim kompetensi,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d ulasnya.<\/p>\n

Lebih lanjut mahasiswa angkatan 2006 ini menuturkan, para mahasiswa dari Labolatorium Telekomunikasi Teknik Elektro bersedia menjadi fasilitator para fresh graduate yang ingin menimba ilmu praktis dari para alumni. \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Selain pelatihan, kami juga memfasilitasi untuk sertifikasi engineer sampai skala internasional,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d kata pria asal Mojokerto ini.
