Pradipta Rahman Hakim, an ITS Naval Architecture alumnus, wins the 2024 Young Designer of the Year award in Austria<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

ITS Campus, ITS News \u2013 <\/strong>Showing its dedication to support Indonesia’s industrial and maritime sectors, Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS)<\/a> successfully created new pride through many achievements from its alumni. One of ITS alumni won the 2024 Young Designer of the Year award through a cruise ship design concept, handed over in Kitzb\u00fchel, Austria, on January 28, 2024.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Pradipta Rahman Hakim is an outstanding young designer who won the 2024 Boat International Design & Innovation Awards <\/em>. Through his stunning designs, the man who is familiarly called Dipta, managed to attract the attention of Feadship. This high-class industrial and ship design company is also a prominent sponsor in that award.<\/p>\n

In his design, named as Blueminance, the alumnus of ITS Naval Architecture<\/a> focuses on presenting a ship concept that emphasizes functionality without ignoring aesthetic elements. His futuristic design was successfully presented through strong art, supported by excellent layout planning and an attractive interior.<\/p>\n

While conducting his research, Dipta admitted that he was greatly inspired by Feadship’s enthusiasm and commitment to expertise and innovation in the maritime sector. Besides, the main highlight of the concept includes a large open relaxation area at the back and a swimming pool as its centerpiece. “In my opinion, it is important to provide open space for some activities in the middle of the sea,” said this 2018 graduate.<\/p>\n

Dipta’s success is nothing but a result of his persistence and unyielding character. After attempting three times, Dipta emerged as the best designer, proving that success comes to those with dedication. “This is also inseparable from my work experience in a design consulting company and the trials I experienced in the previous year,” the man from Magelang added.<\/p>\n

Furthermore, Dipta talked about the long process of holding the competition and the reasonably strict assessment by judges from the superyacht industry. During the five months of work, he actively covered his flaws by deepening his knowledge of rendering systems and interior design science besides finding mentors from online sources. “The biggest obstacle I face also lies in the ship industry, which has not developed much in Indonesia,” said Dipta, who currently has a career as a design consultant in Bali.<\/p>\n

Dipta not only listed his name in the award, but also highlighted Indonesia’s maritime conditions in terms of industry and design. Amid technological developments and global trends, he looks forward that Indonesia will continue to progress in the maritime sector and that ITS, as the best campus in its field, can continue to support this progress.<\/p>\n

As a step forward, Dipta is committed to contribute to the progress of ship design in Indonesia and international level. He looks forward that his achievements can inspire other young designers, especially from ITS, to encourage the growth of the cruise ship industry in the country. “By holding high enthusiasm and aspirations, Indonesia will be able to improve in maritime sector for national development,” said Dipta optimistically.
