Hal tersebut menginspirasi tim mahasiswa <a href=\"http:\/\/its.ac.id\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS)<\/a> untuk menginovasikan alternatif sistem deteksi COPD melalui perubahan nilai permitivitas pada cairan ludah yang disebut CoDetector.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>COPD atau juga disebut Penyakit Paru Obstruktif Kronik (PPOK) merupakan penyakit peradangan pada paru-paru dalam jangka waktu lama yang sering menyerang perokok aktif dan pasif. Penderita COPD akan mengalami kerusakan pada bronkus dan selaput paru atau pleura. Guna mendeteksi COPD, <em>Global Initiative for Chronic Obstructive Lung Disease<\/em> (GOLD) mempunyai sistem deteksi standar menggunakan spirometer.<\/p>\n<p>Ketua tim Fani Ahmad Refansah menuturkan, sistem deteksi COPD menggunakan spirometer dinilai kompleks karena memerlukan biaya yang mahal, waktu deteksi yang lama, dan memerlukan operator yang terampil. Hal tersebut terjadi karena penyakit COPD dapat memengaruhi kekentalan mukosa penderitanya. Selain itu, pasien COPD juga mengalami penurunan kadar aquaporin-5 pada saliva atau cairan ludah yang memengaruhi sifat permitivitasnya.<\/p>\n<p>Sifat permitivitas tersebut, imbuh Fani, merupakan kemampuan suatu benda menyimpan energi potensial listrik dalam pengaruh medan listrik. Nilai permitivitas ini dapat ditentukan dengan memanfaatkan konduktor pelat sejajar. Pada saat saliva diletakkan dalam suatu wadah berupa kuvet plastik yang berada di antara dua konduktor pelat sejajar, akan diperoleh nilai kapasitansinya. \u201cDengan menggunakan persamaan fisika, akan diperoleh nilai permitivitasnya,\u201d bebernya.<\/p>\n<p>Berdasarkan fakta tersebut, Fani dan tim di bawah bimbingan dosen Dr rer nat Ruri Agung Wahyuono ST MT berhasil menginovasikan alat deteksi COPD menggunakan biosensor kapasitif berdasarkan nilai permitivitas cairan ludah.
