Melalui tim <a href=\"https:\/\/www.its.ac.id\/news\/2023\/12\/01\/membanggakan-its-raih-20-gelar-juara-di-ajang-pimnas-ke-36\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Program Kreativitas Mahasiswa<\/a> Riset Eksakta (PKM-RE), mereka melakukan penelitian untuk melihat seberapa besar pengaruh <em>pre-treatment<\/em> pada logam aluminium terhadap besarnya daya listrik yang dihasilkan.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Ketua tim PKM-RE ITS M Rizki Akbar menjelaskan bahwa penelitiannya dilatarbelakangi oleh keresahannya mengenai sampah kaleng dan aluminium <em>foil<\/em> bekas di sekitar laboratoriumnya. Mahasiswa dari <a href=\"http:\/\/its.ac.id\/tfisika\">Departemen Teknik Fisika ITS<\/a> tersebut menginovasikan riset berjudul <em>Pengaruh Perlakuan Awal Limbah Aluminium Menggunakan Larutan HCl\/Na2MoO4 terhadap Peningkatan Laju Hidrolisis dalam Produksi Hidrogen untuk Aplikasi Fuel Cell<\/em> guna mengatasi permasalahan di laboratorium tersebut.<\/p>\n<p>Riset yang dilakukan di Laboratorium Material Fungsional Maju ITS ini meneliti efek dari <em>pre-treatment<\/em> aluminium menggunakan asam klorida dan natrium molybdate terhadap laju produksi hidrogen. Dalam prosesnya, reaksi hidrolisis yang terjadi pada aluminium menghasilkan gas hidrogen. Dengan <em>pre-treatment<\/em> selama 60 detik, diketahui 0,5 gram kaleng aluminium dapat menghasilkan daya listrik sebesar 233,93 miliwatt. Daya listrik tersebut jauh lebih besar daripada kaleng aluminium tanpa melalui tahap <em>pre-treatment<\/em>, yang hanya menghasilkan 29,78 miliwatt.<\/p>\n<p>Dengan didampingi oleh dosen pembimbing dari Departemen Teknik Fisika ITS Dr Ing Doty Dewi Risanti ST MT, tim ini berhasil menyalakan lampu kecil selama 40 menit dengan menggunakan 4 gram kaleng aluminium. Kiba menyimpulkan bahwa riset ini berpotensi menjadi sumber energi terbarukan di masa mendatang. Mereka berhasil membawa pulang dua medali sekaligus, yaitu medali perak untuk kategori poster dan medali perunggu untuk kategori presentasi. Keberhasilan ini merupakan kebanggaan tersendiri bagi tim, karena berhasil mengharumkan nama almamater di kancah nasional.<\/p>\n<p>Riset yang dilakukan oleh tim PKM-RE ITS ini merupakan salah satu contoh inovasi yang dapat dimanfaatkan untuk mengurangi limbah. Tidak hanya itu, inovasi ini juga mengembangkan sumber energi terbarukan.
