Tujuan pengembangan yang dituangkan dalam orasi ilmiahnya ini adalah untuk mendukung sistem transportasi berkelanjutan.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Dosen <a href=\"http:\/\/its.ac.id\/tmesin\">Departemen Teknik Mesin ITS<\/a> tersebut menjelaskan, sektor transportasi merupakan penyumbang emisi CO2 terbesar kedua setelah pembangkit listrik. Hal tersebut dapat terjadi karena ketergantungan manusia yang masih besar terhadap bahan bakar fosil. \u201cPadahal bahan bakar fosil semakin lama semakin mahal dan sulit didapatkan,\u201d ungkapnya.<\/p>\n<p>Alumnus ITS tersebut menyebutkan, solusi dari permasalahan ini terletak pada konservasi dan <em>renewable energy<\/em>. Untuk itu, Bambang mengembangkan bidang strategis dari kedua solusi tersebut adalah bioenergi. Bioenergi sendiri merupakan pemanfaatan sumber energi dari sumber-sumber hayati yang ada. \u201cPemanfaatan bioenergi dapat memberi nafas lega bagi dunia,\u201d tuturnya.<\/p>\n<p>Untuk menunjang gagasan tersebut, dosen yang telah mempunyai 28 publikasi jurnal itu menggagas enam keterbaruan teknologi di bidang bioenergi. Salah satunya adalah keterbaruannya pada teknologi biogas. Gas metana tersebut tercipta berkat penambahan proses pemanasan dan pengadukan pada reaktor biogas serta proses pemurnian menggunakan sistem filtrasi. \u201cDengan metode ini, produksi gas dapat lebih maksimal,\u201d tegasnya.<\/p>\n<p>Keterbaruan selanjutnya terletak pada teknologi <em>Refuse Derived Fuel<\/em> (RDF), yakni merupakan sebuah bahan bakar yang berbahan baku sampah yang dapat digunakan pada kendaraan bermotor. Bambang melakukan perancangan terhadap sebuah mesin pembuatan RDF bernama <em>Mobile Waste Screening and Shredding Machine<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Profesor yang fokus pada pengembangan bioenergi itu menyampaikan bahwa mesin ini dapat diwujudkan dengan memenuhi dua tahapan. Tahapan pertama adalah penyusunan <em>basic machine design<\/em> dan <em>schematics drawing<\/em>. Dari pencacahan tersebut, dilakukan proses lanjutan yang dapat menciptakan RDF. \u201cMesin ini mampu mendukung komitmen Indonesia mengenai <em>green energy<\/em> pada pertemuan G20 lalu,\u201d ujarnya.<\/p>\n<p>Selain kedua keterbaruan tersebut, Bambang juga turut menyumbang keterbaruan pada teknologi gasifikasi, biodiesel, bioetanol, dan diesel dual fuel (DDF). Bersama-sama, lanjut Bambang, keenam keterbaruan teknologi itu mendukung mimpi Indonesia dalam mewujudkan transportasi berkelanjutan. Hal ini ditandai dari beragam produk penunjang yang diciptakan dari keterbaharuan teknologi yang dibuatnya. Salah satunya adalah mesin produksi bioetanol, RDF, dan teknologi kendaraan listrik.<\/p>\n<p>Terakhir, Manajer Science Techno Park (STP) Klaster Otomotif ITS ini berharap dengan adanya keterbaruan teknologi tersebut, emisi CO2 di dunia dapat berkurang sehingga pemanasan global pun bisa ditekan habis.
