Guna mengatasi permasalahan tersebut, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.its.ac.id\/news\/2023\/11\/02\/menuju-kampus-riset-dan-inovasi-its-kukuhkan-27-profesor-baru-sekaligus\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Profesor ke-178<\/a> <a href=\"http:\/\/its.ac.id\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS)<\/a> Prof Dr Eng Siti Machmudah ST MEng mengembangkan teknologi fluida superkritis sebagai bahan baku obat dengan pengolahan tanaman herbal.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Melalui orasi ilmiahnya, perempuan yang akrab disapa Mach itu menyampaikan bahwa saat ini bahan baku obat-obatan di Indonesia masih didominasi oleh produk impor. Maka dari itu, ia melakukan inovasi pada fluida superkritis agar dapat mendorong kemandirian bahan baku obat di Indonesia. \u201cSelain itu, penggunaan teknologi fluida superkritis juga dapat menjadi solusi pada permasalahan lingkungan,\u201d jelasnhya.<\/p>\n<p>Lebih lanjut, Mach menerangkan, fluida superkritis merupakan suatu senyawa yang telah melebihi titik tekanan kritis dan suhu kritisnya. Fluida yang memiliki sifat gabungan cair dan gas ini memiliki fungsi sebagai pelarut murni atau media untuk proses pemisahan reaksi atau material. \u201cFluida superkritis dapat menggantikan pelarut organik dalam proses pemisahan, sehingga hasil yang didapatkan tidak mencemari lingkungan,\u201d tutur Guru Besar <a href=\"http:\/\/its.ac.id\/tkimia\">Departemen Teknik Kimia ITS<\/a> tersebut.<\/p>\n<p>Dalam prosesnya, Mach memilih untuk menggunakan karbon dioksida (CO2) superkritis dan air subkritis sebagai senyawa untuk penelitian yang dilakukannya. Kedua fluida tersebut dipilih karena mudah untuk didapatkan, tidak beracun, dan tidak mudah terbakar. Dalam penelitiannya, CO2 superkritis berfungsi untuk mengekstrak bahan baku obat antikanker dari tanaman herbal, seperti amigdalin dari biji buah loquat. \u201cKarbon dioksida superkritis juga bisa digunakan untuk proses mikronisasi bahan baku obat sehingga kemampuan penghantaran obat dalam tubuh dapat meningkat,\u201d tambah perempuan berhijab ini.<\/p>\n<p>Selain amigdalin, dosen yang terlahir di Gresik ini menuturkan bahwa penggunaan CO2 superkritis ini dapat digunakan untuk bahan baku obat-obatan lainnya. Beberapa di antaranya ialah <em>beta sitosterol<\/em>, <em>licopen<\/em>, <em>lutein<\/em>, <em>beta karoten<\/em>, <em>astaxanthin<\/em>, dan senyawa <em>terpenoid<\/em>. Sedangkan air subkritis dapat dimanfaatkan untuk mendapatkan bahan baku obat dari tanaman herbal seperti daun kelor dan kumis kucing yang dapat mengontrol tekanan darah dan mengobati peradangan.<\/p>\n<p>Tak hanya untuk bahan baku obat, alumnus program doktoral Kumamoto University, Jepang ini menggagas penggunaan teknologi CO2 superkritis untuk produksi minyak atsiri.
