Namun, masalah akan penyimpanan EBT tersebut masih menjadi aspek krusial yang belum banyak didalami. Oleh karena itu, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.its.ac.id\/news\/2023\/11\/02\/menuju-kampus-riset-dan-inovasi-its-kukuhkan-27-profesor-baru-sekaligus\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Guru Besar ke-174<\/a> <a href=\"http:\/\/its.ac.id\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS)<\/a> Prof Suwarno ST MSc PhD mengembangkan material penyimpan EBT hidrogen dan baterai.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Dalam orasi ilmiahnya yang berjudul <em>Sains dan Rekayasa Material Penyimpan Hidrogen untuk Sistem Energi Tanpa Polusi<\/em>, Suwarno menjelaskan bahwa untuk mencapai konsep EBT diperlukan suatu sistem energi yang tidak melibatkan pelepasan karbon pada prosesnya. Tak hanya itu, hidrogen juga dapat dimanfaatkan pada kendaraan secara langsung dengan pembakaran menggunakan sistem<em> internal combustion engine<\/em> (ICE). Dalam hal ini, hidrogen dapat bereaksi dengan banyak logam untuk membentuk hidrida logam yang mempunyai kepadatan hingga 150 kilogram H\/m3.
