Ada tiga macam bidang yang diujikan, yakni tes kemampuan dasar, tes kemampuan IPA, dan tes potensi akademik (TPA). \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Acara ini merupakan yang pertama kali. Dengannya, kami ingin memfasilitasi adik-adik SMA,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d tutur Sendy Pujiatmoko selaku ketua panitia.<\/p>\n<p>Selain itu, lanjut Sendy, <em>try out<\/em> ini merupakan upaya untuk membudidayakan kembali SNMPTN yang sempat tidak menjadi pilihan utama. \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Banyak siswa SMA yang lebih memilih masuk perguruan tinggi melalui jalur yang membutuhkan banyak biaya,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d ujarnya.<\/p>\n<p>Usai <em>try out<\/em>, acara dilanjutkan dengan tur laboratorium. Tur dibuka langsung oleh Ketua Jurusan Teknik Kimia Prof Dr Ir Tri Widjaja MEng. Di hadapan para siswa, Tri Widjaja memberikan materi singkat seputar Teknik Kimia ITS. \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Kebanyakan siswa SMA masih belum paham apa itu Teknik Kimia dan apa perbedaannya dengan Kimia murni,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d tegasnya.<\/p>\n<p>Dari sekitar 173 siswa, mereka dibagi menjadi dua kelompok besar. Secara bergantian, para siswa diajak meninjau laboratorium Teknik Kimia. Di lab, mereka masih dibagi lagi menjadi lima kelompok kecil. Masing-masing berpencar ke lima alat laboratorium, antara lain pompa, <em>mixing<\/em>, fluidisasi, distilasi sederhana, dan esterifikasi.<\/p>\n<p>Ada alasan tertentu yang melatarbelakangi dipilihnya kelima alat tersebut. Alat- alat itu merupakan alat sederhana yang digunakan dalam praktikum. \u00e2\u20ac\u009dKita berikan penjelasan yang mudah tentang kelima alat tersebut sehingga siswa paham tentang alat yang digunakan di Teknik Kimia,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d lanjut Sendy yang juga ikut mendampingi tur.<\/p>\n<p>Dalam tur ini, alat-alat yang menjadi kebanggaan mahasiswa Teknik Kimia dalam kancah kompetisi karya ilmiah pun ikut diperagakan. Di antaranya adalah He-trick <em>lamp<\/em> dan Wel-T. &quot;Benar-benar menarik. Teknik Kimia ternyata tak hanya sekedar mencampur zat.
