ITS Campus, ITS News –<\/strong> Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS)<\/a> continues to prove its commitment to its latest slogan, “Reach For The Top.” This is evident in the success of six ITS students who had the opportunity to participate in an internship program at the renowned shipbuilding company, Oshima Shipbuilding, in Japan.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

The six ITS students are Jemima Audrey Natasha, Putra Nanda Kusuma, and Hans Dimitri from the Department of Naval Architectur<\/a>e. Additionally, Hamzah Nur Azzam from the Department of Electrical Engineering<\/a>, Galang Adi Saputro from the Department of Mechanical Engineering<\/a>, and Agung Tuani Hartono Sihotang from the Department of Ship Systems Engineering<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Head of the Department of Naval Architecture (DTP) at ITS, Ir. Wasis Dwi Aryawan MSc PhD, explained that this internship program is a collaborative effort between DTP ITS and the international-scale company. However, Wasis mentioned that this program also offered opportunities for students from other departments. “This aligns with the request made by Oshima Shipbuilding<\/a>,” he said.<\/p>\n

To fill these opportunities, a series of internal selections were conducted to identify the best-qualified students. Led by Erzad Iskandar Putra ST MT, a lecturer from the ITS Student Consultation Team (TKK), students from various departments competed for this opportunity. “The selection process included document reviews and interviews, which were also attended by industry representatives,” Erzad explained.<\/p>\n

Through this series of selections, Erzad continued, a total of six ITS students were chosen to participate in a month-long internship program in the Land of the Rising Sun. Having departed on August 19th, these six students have already gained valuable knowledge and received positive evaluations from the company. “In fact, we have received news that they will be permanently employed there,” he revealed.<\/p>\n

During this internship program, the students have also received salaries and living allowances in Japan. Although they have to complete the internship for a month, they have been given the opportunity to participate in their graduation ceremony at ITS in mid and late September.<\/p>\n

In this regard, Wasis expressed his pride, noting that this opportunity demonstrates that ITS graduates have internationally standardized competencies. Not only that, through this internship program, it is hoped that knowledge exchange will occur, ultimately contributing to the advancement of the shipbuilding industry in Indonesia.<\/p>\n

In conclusion, Wasis hopes that this program will continue to thrive. He believes that, in addition to the aforementioned benefits, this program can also serve as a platform for promoting ITS and showcasing that its graduates possess skills that are on par with those in other developing countries. “Hopefully, this program will not only focus on the shipbuilding industry but also extend to other industries,” he concluded.
