Melalui fokusan tersebut, Tim Fuchelia dari <a href=\"http:\/\/its.ac.id\">Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS)<\/a> tengah mengembangkan gagasan tepat guna melalui sebuah inovasi alat bernama <em>Smart Reducer Gas Pyrolysis<\/em>.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Salah seorang anggota Tim Fuchelia, Immanuel Nathanael Lumban Gaol menjelaskan, seiring berkembangnya industri pertanian, saat ini bahan bakar fosil masih menjadi pilihan utama sejumlah petani. Sedangkan, ketersediaannya semakin menipis hingga berdampak pada harga yang mahal. \u201cDengan itu, perlu adanya bahan bakar ramah lingkungan, seperti bahan bakar hasil pirolisis limbah plastik,\u201d tuturnya.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Berdasarkan permasalahan tersebut, tim yang melibatkan tujuh mahasiswa <a href=\"https:\/\/www.its.ac.id\/kimia\/id\/beranda\/\">Departemen Kimia ITS<\/a> ini merancang teknologi tepat guna dengan teknik pirolisis limbah. Alat yang dirancang merupakan sebuah teknologi untuk mengubah limbah plastik menjadi bahan bakar minyak yang tersusun atas beberapa bagian, yaitu reaktor 18 liter, pipa penghubung, kondensor, dan penampung produk.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Pemuda yang akrab disapa Nuel itu memaparkan, konsep pirolisis yang diterapkannya ini merupakan proses pemanasan bahan padat dalam keadaaan oksigen yang terbatas atau bahkan tanpa oksigen. \u201cAlat yang kami kembangkan ini menggunakan plastik Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET) sebagai bahan baku dengan produk luarannya berupa minyak,\u201d imbuhnya.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_80309\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-80309\" style=\"width: 1427px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-80309 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.its.ac.id\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2023\/04\/IMG_3826.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1427\" height=\"951\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.its.ac.id\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2023\/04\/IMG_3826.jpg 1427w, https:\/\/www.its.ac.id\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2023\/04\/IMG_3826-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.its.ac.id\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2023\/04\/IMG_3826-1024x682.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.its.ac.id\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2023\/04\/IMG_3826-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.its.ac.id\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2023\/04\/IMG_3826-355x237.jpg 355w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1427px) 100vw, 1427px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-80309\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Smart Reducer Gas Pyrolysis rancangan Tim Fuchelia ITS tersusun atas beberapa bagian, yaitu reaktor 18 liter, pipa penghubung, kondensor, dan penampung produk untuk mengubah hasil daur ulang plastik menjadi bahan bakar<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Sedangkan dari segi teknis, lanjutnya, cara kerja dari <em>Smart Reducer Gas Pyrolysis<\/em> ini dimulai dengan memilah dan memisahkan sampah plastik yang akan dicacah sampai diperoleh ukuran terkecil. Dilanjutkan dengan proses pirolisis dengan memasukkan 5-10 kilogram plastik ke dalam reaktor, dan dipanaskan menggunakan <em>Liquefied Petroleum Gas<\/em> (LPG). \u201cMaka, plastik akan meleleh dan mengalami proses perengkahan menjadi hidrokarbon rantai yang lebih pendek,\u201d terangnya.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Dengan panas yang ditambahkan terus-menerus dalam reaktor tersebut membuat lelehan plastik menguap. Uap hasil pemanasan akan dialirkan menuju kondensor untuk didinginkan, sehingga diperoleh cairan berupa minyak hasil. \u201cMinyak pirolisis ini yang dimanfaatkan untuk bahan bakar mesin diesel untuk menghidupkan alat-alat pertanian,\u201d ungkap Nuel.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Guna mengurangi emisi karbon, Nuel dan tim juga menambahkan zat aditif berupa minyak kayu putih ke dalam minyak pirolisis dengan target hasil minyak yang lebih jernih. Lebih lagi, pada knalpot mesin diesel dengan penggunaan minyak pirolisis juga akan ditambahkan karbon aktif. \u201cDengan demikian, di saat penggunaannya diesel tidak akan menimbulkan bau menyengat,\u201d ujarnya.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Berkat gagasan teknologi tepat guna dari <em>Smart Reducer Gas Pyrolysis<\/em> ini, rancangan Nuel dan tim berhasil diaplikasikan secara langsung pada acara pengabdian masyarakat di Serang, Banten dengan tajuk <em>Technology for Indonesia<\/em> (TFI).
