Melalui Guest Lecture Series (GLS) on SDGs, ITS bersama dengan ITS Global Engagement (GE) hadirkan dosen asal Malaysia, Dr. Syaheerah Lebai Lutfi, untuk menyampaikan materi <em>Affective Interfaces: Infusing Emotions and Culture in Interfaces for Natural Interactions.<\/em><\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Sebagai pembuka sesi kuliah tamu, Syaheerah mengemukakan tentang sebuah penemuan alat oleh orang Barat yang mampu mendeteksi emosi seseorang. Namun, ketika alat tersebut diterapkan pada orang yang tidak berasal dari Barat, tingkat akurasinya rendah. Hal tersebut disebabkan adanya perbedaan ekspresi antar budaya meskipun dari emosi yang sama. \u201cCara berekspresi dari masing-masing budaya itu berbeda,\u201d tegasnya.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Ia pun menceritakan salah satu penelitian mengenai pengaruh budaya dalam proses pengolahan informasi. Pada penelitian tersebut, responden ditunjukkan dua gambar yang berbeda. Gambar pertama menampilkan seorang dengan raut wajah bahagia begitu pula orang-orang di belakangnya. Sedangkan pada gambar kedua adalah seorang dengan raut wajah yang juga bahagia, tetapi orang-orang di belakangnya beraut wajah sedih.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Menanggapi kedua gambar tersebut, responden yang berasal dari Barat berpendapat bahwa pada kedua gambar tersebut, seorang itu sama-sama bahagia karena terlihat dari raut wajahnya. Lain halnya dengan responden dari Timur, mereka berpendapat bahwa pada gambar pertama orang tersebut bahagia tetapi tidak dengan gambar kedua. \u201cHal ini karena orang Asia cenderung memperhatikan latar belakang dan perasaan orang, berbeda dengan orang Barat yang melihat apa yang nampak,\u201d jelasnya.<\/span><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_76750\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-76750\" style=\"width: 2976px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-76750\" src=\"https:\/\/www.its.ac.id\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/12\/LIPUTAN-GLS-EDITED-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"2976\" height=\"1984\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-76750\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Dr. Syaheerah Lebai Lutfi (kiri) menyampaikan materinya kepada peserta GLS on SDGs, Senin (28\/11)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Dengan perbedaan budaya ini, menurutnya, tidak menjadi penghalang dalam inovasi teknologi. Justru dengan adanya keanekaragaman, membuat teknologi maju semakin pesat seiring dengan variasi fitur yang disesuaikan dengan pengguna. Tak lupa, ia menekankan bahwa adaptasi boleh dilakukan tetapi kita harus mempertahankan jati diri. \u201cKita tetap membutuhkan identitas budaya masing-masing,\u201d tutur lulusan Informatika di Universitas Sains Malaysia (USM) ini.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Berdasarkan penjelasannya, Syaheerah menyimpulkan bahwa pemodelan yang dilakukan perlu disesuaikan dengan budaya daerah penggunanya.
