Bertemakan <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Introduction to Geothermal, <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u00a0kegiatan ini menghadirkan dua pakar di bidang energi panas bumi, Selasa (25\/10).<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Diadakan di Ruang AULA Prof Handayani Tjandrasa Departemen Teknik Informatika, Alya Idayu Safitri, salah satu pembicara seminar yang merupakan Reservoir Engineer pada perusahaan geotermal nasional mengungkapkan, energi geotermal adalah energi yang berasal dari panas bumi. \u201cKata <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">geothermal <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">berasal dari <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">geo<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> yang berarti bumi, dan <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">thermal <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">yang berarti panas,\u201d ungkapnya mengawali pembahasan.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Lebih lanjut, Alya menjelaskan, terdapat tiga jenis pembangkit listrik bertenaga panas bumi. Ketiga jenis tersebut adalah <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">flash steam, dry steam, <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">dan <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">binary cycle. <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Walaupun berbeda, ketiga pembangkit ini menggunakan konsep yang sama yakni memanfaatkan panas bumi sebagai sumber energinya. \u201cAir panas dari dalam bumi akan diteruskan ke permukaan dan diambil uapnya (sebagai sumber energi, red),\u201d tutur perempuan berkacamata tersebut.<\/span><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_74640\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-74640\" style=\"width: 720px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-74640\" src=\"https:\/\/www.its.ac.id\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/10\/MG_3241.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"720\" height=\"480\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-74640\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Interaksi antara Alya Idayu Safitri dan Rindang Riyanti dengan peserta seminar<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Selaras dengan penjelasan tersebut, pembicara kedua yang merupakan Geothermal Production Engineer pada salah satu perusahaan geotermal nasional, Rindang Riyanti menjabarkan cara kerja pembangkit geotermal. Panas bumi di bawah permukaan akan memanaskan air tanah, air ini kemudian menjadi uap yang menggerakkan turbin <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">generator <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">listrik. \u201cListrik ini akan dialirkan ke transmisi PLN untuk didistribusikan,\u201d ucap Rindang.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Energi geotermal memanfaatkan panas bumi, dan panas bumi itu sendiri tidak akan pernah habis. Hal ini lantas membuat geotermal menjadi sumber energi yang terbarukan dan ramah lingkungan. Tidak hanya itu, proses pengolahan geotermal tidak mengeluarkan banyak polusi. Energi panas bumi dapat memproduksi sedikit sulfur dioksida dan karbon dioksida, namun jauh lebih sedikit dibandingkan dengan pembakaran minyak dan gas.<\/span><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_74639\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-74639\" style=\"width: 720px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-74639\" src=\"https:\/\/www.its.ac.id\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/10\/MG_3238.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"720\" height=\"480\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-74639\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Materi yang disampaikan Rindang Riyanti yang disambut antusiasme peserta<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Meskipun demikian, pemakaian energi geotermal ini masih memiliki beberapa kekurangan jika dibandingkan dengan energi minyak dan gas. Kekurangan ini berkaitan dengan biaya, karena secara umum, untuk menguapkan satu liter air menggunakan panas bumi diperlukan sekitar 700 dolar AS. Jumlah ini cukup banyak jika dibandingkan dengan penggunaan minyak dan gas yang hanya akan memerlukan sekitar 200 dolar AS.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Perbedaan biaya ini berkaitan dengan suhu dalam pengolahan energi geotermal. Proses pengolahan energi panas bumi melibatkan suhu yang sangat tinggi, yaitu sekitar 150 hinga 350 derajat celsius, sedangkan proses pengolahan minyak dan gas hanya sekitar 150 hingga 175 Celsius. \u201cYang membuatnya mahal adalah peralatan-peralatan yang dipakai harus tahan suhu tinggi,\u201d imbuh Alya.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Pun demikian, seiring dengan berjalannya waktu, teknologi di bidang ini akan semakin maju dan biayanya makin menurun. Selain itu, dunia harus mulai beralih dari menggunakan energi tak terbarukan menjadi energi yang terbarukan serta ramah lingkungan.
