Beranjak dari hal tersebut, salah satu profesor dari Departemen Teknik Kelautan, Fakultas Teknologi Kelautan (FTK) Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) Prof Suntoyo ST MEng PhD berhasil mengembangkan rumus untuk menentukan pergerakan sedimen di dasar laut.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Di awal, Suntoyo menjelaskan, pergerakan gelombang dan arus laut yang berubah-ubah menyebabkan pergeseran sedimen atau tanah pada dasar laut. Apabila tidak dilakukan penanggulangan dengan baik, hal ini akan berdampak pada perencanaan pembangunan pondasi bangunan laut yang kurang kuat. \u201cOleh sebab itu, perlu dilakukan pengembangan untuk rumus tegangan geser dasar dan sedimen,\u201d ungkap lelaki asal Blora ini tentang orasi ilmiahnya saat pengukuhan profesor, Rabu (12\/10) lalu.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_73744\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-73744\" style=\"width: 1150px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-73744\" src=\"https:\/\/www.its.ac.id\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/10\/WhatsApp-Image-2022-10-14-at-13.41.19.jpeg\" alt=\"Prof Suntoyo ST MEng PhD (baju putih sedang duduk) saat melakukan observasi dan penelitian di bidang hidrodinamika dan transportasi sedimen\" width=\"1150\" height=\"767\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-73744\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Prof Suntoyo ST MEng PhD (baju putih sedang duduk) saat melakukan observasi dan penelitian di bidang hidrodinamika dan transportasi sedimen<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Lebih lanjut, profesor ke-150 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.its.ac.id\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ITS<\/a> ini menuturkan, secara teori terdapat empat jenis gelombang yang ada di laut, yakni gelombang non-linier, gelombang tidak simetris, gelombang irregular, serta gelombang dan arus. Dengan mengombinasikan empat jenis gelombang dengan rumus tegangan geser dasar, Suntoyo berhasil mendapatkan nilai yang akurat untuk menghitung pergeseran sedimen.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Adapun inovasi pengembangan rumus tersebut antara lain formula tegangan geser dasar gelombang non-linier, formula tegangan geser dasar gelombang tidak simetris, formula tegangan geser dasar gelombang irregular, dan formula tegangan geser dasar kombinasi gelombang dengan arus. \u201cSaya yakin pengembangan formula ini, mampu mendapatkan hasil yang lebih akurat daripada penelitian terdahulu,\u201d tegasnya optimistis.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_73742\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-73742\" style=\"width: 1250px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-73742\" src=\"https:\/\/www.its.ac.id\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/10\/WhatsApp-Image-2022-10-14-at-13.42.31.jpeg\" alt=\"Ilustrasi proses terjadinya pergerakan gelombang dan arus di kawasan pesisir pantai (sumber: jurnal penelitian Min Luo dkk)\" width=\"1250\" height=\"647\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-73742\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Ilustrasi proses terjadinya pergerakan gelombang dan arus di kawasan pesisir pantai (sumber: jurnal penelitian Min Luo dkk)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Lelaki kelahiran 23 Juli 1971 ini menyampaikan, pengembangan rumus ini berguna untuk pengelolaan wilayah pesisir pantai serta perencanaan pembangunan di laut seperti bangunan dermaga. Melalui formula-formula tersebut, maka dapat diketahui gerakan sedimen pada dasar laut. Sehingga pembangunan tersebut mampu dilakukan secara efisien serta menekan biaya yang tinggi.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Pengembangan rumus ini juga digunakan sebagai metode penanggulangan gerusan sedimen untuk pemasangan pipa atau kabel di dasar laut. Ia mengaku, telah banyak pakar kelautan internasional seperti dari Australia, Belanda, Italia, Jepang, dan Spanyol yang terbantu melalui penelitiannya.
