Inovasi garapan mahasiswa Departemen Teknik Kimia ITS ini diharapkan mampu memberikan solusi untuk mengurangi polusi limbah industri.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Ia adalah Arif Pawoko, mahasiswa ITS angkatan 2022, yang memanfaatkan ampas tebu yang sering menjadi limbah industri gula untuk mengoptimalkan kinerja biolistrik. Ide ini berawal dari keresahannya mengenai kurang dimanfaatkannya limbah industri gula tersebut serta semakin menipisnya stok energi di Indonesia. \u201cIsu energi terbarukan sendiri juga lagi gencar dikembangkan, jadi garis besar idenya juga dari sana,\u201d jelasnya.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Upaya pengolahan limbah yang dilakukan oleh Arif adalah dengan menjadikan ampas tebu sebagai substrat anoda dalam sistem Microbial Fuel Cell (MFC). MFC sendiri merupakan sistem yang memanfaatkan prinsip biolektrokimia untuk menghasilkan sumber listrik baru dari bahan alami.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Substrat ampas tebu sendiri dengan bantuan jamur Aspergillus niger dianggap mampu menggantikan Saccharomyces, mikroorganisme yang biasa digunakan dalam proses kerja sistem MFC. \u201cKalau menggunakan itu (Saccharomyces, red) biayanya lebih mahal, kalau ampas tebu kan lebih murah,\u201d tambah mahasiwa asal Ngawi tersebut.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_75283\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-75283\" style=\"width: 1280px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-75283\" src=\"https:\/\/www.its.ac.id\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/10\/WhatsApp-Image-2022-11-03-at-15.19.04.jpeg\" alt=\"Arif Pawoko saat melakukan proses pembuatan membran garam untuk difusi elektron dalam proses MFC\" width=\"1280\" height=\"961\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-75283\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Arif Pawoko saat melakukan proses pembuatan membran garam untuk difusi elektron dalam proses MFC<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Arif mengungkapkan bahwa setelah melalui proses pengujian, performa biolistrik yang dihasilkan oleh temuannya ini menunjukkan peningkatan. Ia meyakini hasil ini membuktikan penggunaan substrat ampas tebu justru lebih unggul dan layak untuk dipertimbangkan dibanding dengan penggunaan mikroorganisme sebelumnya.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Berkat inovasinya tersebut, Arif berhasil menyabet juara ketiga di ajang <em>Environmental Competition 2022<\/em> yang diselenggarakan oleh Sekolah Vokasi Institut Pertanian Bogor (IPB), Agustus lalu.
