Litium, yang merupakan mineral penting untuk transisi ke penggunaan EBT digadang-gadang menjadi industri energi yang menjanjikan di masa depan. Namun, penambangannya yang terlalu merugikan lingkungan menjadi kendala dalam eksplorasi dan eksploitasi litium. Lantas, bagaimana kita mengoptimalkan pemanfaatan litium di bumi?<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Memiliki nilai komersial yang besar, pemanfaatan litium semakin membara di abad ke-21. Menurut Bank Dunia, kebutuhan akan litium akan meningkat lima kali lipat guna memenuhi target iklim di tahun 2050. Hal ini disebabkan penggunaannya yang cukup beragam. Bukan hanya dimanfaatkan untuk baterai pada ponsel pintar dan komputer, litium juga dipakai sebagai bahan baku baterai pada mobil listrik. Terlebih, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.iea.org\/\">Internatonal Energy Agency<\/a> menyebutkan ada 245 juta mobil listrik yang ditargetkan untuk diproduksi pada tahun 2030.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Melihat target penggunaannya yang begitu masif di masa depan, manusia dihadapkan pada dua pilihan. Eksplorasi dan eksploitasi untuk menyelamatkan alam atau eksplorasi dan eksploitasi untuk merusak alam. Sebab penambangan litium terutama dengan metode konvensional menimbulkan masalah besar bagi lingkungan di sekitarnya. Secara eksplisit, eksplorasi dan eksploitasi litium dengan metode tersebut berpengaruh pada emisi karbon serta penggunaan air dan tanah yang berlebih.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_69693\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-69693\" style=\"width: 800px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-69693\" src=\"https:\/\/www.its.ac.id\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/06\/ssss.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"450\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-69693\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Ilustrasi dampak penambangan litium pada tiga metode penambangan litium (Sumber: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.com\/future\/article\/20201124-how-geothermal-lithium-could-revolutionise-green-energy\">Leonardo Soares\/BBC<\/a>)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Menurut analisis ahli dari Perusahaan Vulcan Energy Resources, metode konvensional melalui penambangan batuan keras mengekstraksi mineral litium dari tambang terbuka untuk dipanaskan dengan bahan bakar fosil. Metode ini meninggalkan kerusakan cukup parah pada permukaan tanah. Belum lagi penggunaan air yang berlebih untuk proses ekstrasi litiumnya.\u00a0 Lebih lanjut, metode penambangan batuan keras juga melepaskan total 15 ton karbon dioksida (<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">CO<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">2<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">) untuk setiap ton litium yang diproduksi.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Sementara itu, metode konvensional lainnya yakni metode ekstraksi litium dari reservoir bawah tanah. Metode eksploitasi ini memerlukan air yang lebih banyak untuk proses ekstrasi litiumnya dibandingkan metode penambangan batuan keras. Sehingga sulit untuk dilakukan terutama di belahan bumi yang mengalami kelangkaan air.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Di Amerika Serikat dan Jerman sendiri, diberlakukan metode ekstraksi litium dari perairan geothermal. Metode ekstraksi ini disinyalir menjadi solusi penambangan yang ramah lingkungan karena meninggalkan jejak kerusakan yang kecil. Ekstraksi litium dari perairan panas bumi juga memperkecil risiko pencemaran udara karena melepaskan emisi karbon dalam jumlah minimal. Metode ini lebih menjanjikan untuk mewujudkan permintaan litium yang melonjak di waktu mendatang.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Selanjutnya, guna memaksimalkan efisiensi metode ekstraksi litium dari perairan geothermal diperlukan suatu metode yang dapat menemukan lokasi perairan panas bumi. Oleh karenanya, ditawarkan metode penginderaan jauh yang efektif untuk menunjukkan keberadaan manifestasi panas dalam cangkupan wilayah yang cukup luas. Titik-titik lokasi panas bumi akan dimuat dari hasil pengolahan citra landsat kanal termal.
