Kampus ITS, ITS News \u2014 <\/b>Menurut <\/span>The Global eW<\/span>aste Monitor, per tahun 2021, Indonesia menempati peringkat ke-7 dunia dalam memproduksi limbah elektronik. Mengundang dosen peneliti dari Universitas Katolik Widya Mandala (WMCU) Surabaya, Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) bersama Science and Technology Innovation Center for Circular Economy and Green Innovative Resource (STIC-CEGIR) gelar webinar tentang pemanfaatan limbah CRT fosfor.\u00a0<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Peneliti dari WMCU Surabaya, Jennie Lie ST PhD, menuturkan sebanyak 60,2 persen komponen limbah elektronik berupa logam. Salah satu logam yang banyak ditemui dan memiliki potensi tinggi untuk didaur ulang adalah Cathode Ray Tube (CRT) fosfor. \u201cCRT fosfor adalah teknologi yang digunakan di televisi dan monitor komputer,\u201d terang Jennie.<\/span><\/p>\n

Perempuan yang menggeluti bidang pemulihan logam ini menyebut bahwa CRT fosfor memiliki jumlah Rare Earth Elements (REE) yang tinggi. Kandungan tersebut berpotensi sebagai sumber daya pertambangan Yttrium dan Europium yang dapat digunakan kembali menjadi sejumlah\u00a0 komponen elektronik. \u201cKomponen yang dimaksud bisa berupa LED, filter elektronik, laser, superkonduktor, hingga berbagai aplikasi peralatan medis,\u201d ungkapnya.<\/span><\/p>\n

Lebih lanjut, Jennie menjelaskan bahwa ekstraksi REE dari limbah CRT fosfor dilakukan dengan menggunakan proses <\/span>microwave leaching<\/span><\/i>. Gelombang dari <\/span>microwave<\/span><\/i> mampu menghasilkan panas yang menyebabkan dinding sel limbah logam hancur. Dengan demikian, Yttrium dan Europium sebagai kandungan utama yang ingin dipulihkan akan keluar melewati dinding sel dan terdifusi menuju pelarut.<\/span><\/p>\n

Dosen Jurusan Teknik Kimia ini mengurai bahwa ada dua jenis <\/span>microwave leaching<\/span><\/i>, yaitu <\/span>microwave<\/span><\/i> bejana tertutup dan bejana terbuka. Berdasarkan penelitiannya, <\/span>microwave<\/span><\/i> bejana tertutup menghasilkan proses yang lebih efektif dan efisien dengan mempertimbangkan konsumsi energi. Bahkan, ungkap Jennie, proses ini berpotensi diterapkan sebagai teknologi hijau untuk pemulihan REE dari limbah elektronik.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Sebagai tambahan, Jennie mengungkap proses <\/span>microwave leaching<\/span><\/i> sebenarnya bisa diterapkan pada hampir semua jenis limbah logam. Tentu saja, proses<\/span> leaching<\/span><\/i> logam kritis tergantung pada senyawa logam dan karakteristik dari limbah elektronik itu sendiri. Jennie berharap, akses pengetahuan dan kemajuan teknologi mampu membuat pengolahan limbah elektronik di Indonesia semakin meningkat. <\/span>(*)<\/b><\/p>\n
