Kampus ITS, ITS News <\/b>\u2013 Selama masih ada bumi dan peradaban, ilmu kebumian tetap dibutuhkan oleh banyak orang. Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) memiliki dua departemen di ranah ilmu kebumian, yaitu Departemen Teknik Geomatika dan Departemen Teknik Geofisika. Lantas, apakah perbedaan dari keduanya?<\/span><\/b><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Menurut Kepala Departemen Teknik Geomatika, Danar Guruh Pratomo ST MT PhD, keilmuan Teknik Geomatika bersifat lebih kuantitatif jika dibandingkan dengan Teknik Geofisika yang bersifat kualitatif. \u201cJika Teknik Geomatika memperhitungkan sebuah pergerakan lempeng, Teknik Geofisika yang dapat menceritakan bagaimana hal itu dapat terjadi,\u201d contohnya.<\/span><\/p>\n

Lebih lanjut, Danar menjelaskan bahwa Teknik Geomatika bertugas menyajikan data geospasial seperti dalam bentuk peta. Untuk proses belajar mahasiswa, departemen yang mulanya bernama Teknik Geodesi ini menyediakan lima laboratorium, yaitu Geodesi dan Geodinamika, Geospasial, Survei dan Kadaster, Geomarin, serta Geoinformatika.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Ia menambahkan, lulusan Departemen Teknik Geomatik ITS terbilang cukup cepat dalam mendapatkan kerja. Hal ini disebabkan banyaknya kebutuhan akan peta sebagai data geospasial untuk menunjang berbagai aktivitas. \u201cBerdasarkan data, banyak lulusan Teknik Geomatika ITS yang mendapatkan pekerjaan kurang dari enam bulan setelah lulus,\u201d tuturnya.<\/span><\/p>\n

Sementara, Kepala Departemen Teknik Geofisika ITS, Dr Dwa Desa Warnana SSi MSi menjelaskan, Teknik Geofisika mempelajari struktur perlapisan di bawah permukaan bumi. Dari sana, dapat diketahui kemungkinan keberadaan suatu sumber daya meskipun tidak dilakukan pengeboran. \u201cKami juga menyediakan laboratorium penunjang, yaitu Eksplorasi Mineral dan Air Tanah serta Geofisika Teknik dan Lingkungan,\u201d ujar dosen yang akrab disapa Anang ini.<\/span><\/p>\n

Meskipun baru akan genap satu dekade pada tahun ini, Departemen Teknik Geofisika ITS sudah mendapatkan akreditasi A oleh BAN-PT. Selain itu, departemen ini juga sudah mendapatkan akreditasi internasional oleh Indonesian Accreditation Board for Engineering Education (IABEE).<\/span><\/p>\n

Di sisi lain, Departemen Teknik Geomatika ITS yang telah lebih dahulu berdiri juga telah mengantongi akreditasi nasional dan internasional. Departemen Teknik Geomatika ITS telah mendapat akreditasi A dari BAN-PT. Selain itu, departemen ini telah terakreditasi oleh Asean University Network \u2013 Quality Assurance (AUN-QA).<\/span><\/p>\n

Terlepas dari perbedaannya, menurut Anang, kedua keilmuan ini saling melengkapi. Misalnya, survei oleh Teknik Geofisika dapat dilakukan dengan bantuan peta topografi hasil dari keilmuan Teknik Geomatika. “Teknik Geofisika ITS memiliki hubungan baik karena beberapa kali juga melakukan kerja sama dengan Teknik Geomatika ITS,” pungkasnya.
