Namun, kontribusi pelayaran pada peningkatan gas rumah kaca (GRK)<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u00a0global tergolong besar yang mencapai angka emisi 1.076 juta ton di tahun 2018. Departemen Teknik Sistem Perkapalan (Siskal) Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) helat gelar wicara untuk membahas pengaplikasian sistem penggerak kapal yang lebih ramah terhadap lingkungan.<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Webinar yang diselenggarakan Laboratorium Marine Electrical and Automation System (MEAS) ini merupakan respon atas kondisi kenaikan suhu bumi. Selain itu, webinar ini menjadi wujud ITS menyukseskan target 2018 Initial International Maritime Organization (IMO) greenhouse gas (GHG) Strategy untuk menurunkan 50% emisi pelayaran pada 2050.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Dosen Siskal ITS, Dr Eddy Setyo Koenhardono ST MSc mengungkapkan bahwa terdapat beberapa aspek yang dapat dioptimalkan untuk mengurangi emisi gas kapal. Mulai dari optimalisasi bentuk lambung, pemilihan bahan bakar dan energi alternatif, atau penyelarasan cuaca dan rute. Solusi lain yang tak kalah optimal disamping opsi sebelumnya yakni pengoptimalan sistem penggerak\/propulsi pada kapal.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Menarik lebih jauh perihal sistem propulsi hibrida, pria berkacamata ini melanjutkan, pada sistem inilah efisiensi mesin utama dapat dioptimalkan dengan penambahan sistem propulsi listrik. Selain baterai, penerapan <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">shaft generator<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> juga dapat berdampak pada pengurangan GRK dengan cara mengubah daya berlebih pada <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">main prime mover<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> menjadi daya listrik. \u201cDengan daya listrik yang dihasilkannya, shaft generator dapat mengurangi penggunaan <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">auxiliary machine<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> atau mesin bantu sehingga dapat menurunkan konsumsi bahan bakar fosil,\u201d paparnya.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Selaras dengan Eddy, Chong Chao Wei menjelaskan, sistem propulsi listrik memiliki beberapa kelebihan bila dibandingkan dengan pendahulunya. Kelebihan tersebut terlihat pada pengurangan konsumsi bahan bakar. Dari penggunaan bahan bakar yang lebih sedikit ini mengakibatkan berkurangnya gas emisi kapal seperti CO (Karbon Monoksida), NOX (Oksida Nitrogen), serta SOX (Oksida Sulfur) yang dapat mencemari lingkungan.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Selain itu, Wei yang merupakan<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> Senior Engineer<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> Rolls Royce Solution Asia menambahkan keunggulan di segi kenyaman karena adanya pengurangan getaran dan polusi, serta ketersediaan suku cadang yang mudah ditemukan. \u201cKarena sifatnya yang modular, membuat proses reparasi dapat lebih mudah terjadi karena kemudahannya untuk memperoleh suku cadang yang dibutuhkan,\u201d imbuhnya.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Namun di sisi lain, penerapan sistem propulsi hibrida pada kapal konvensional juga diwarnai oleh beberapa tantangan di lapangan.
