Kampus ITS, ITS News\u00a0 \u2014<\/b> Program studi (prodi) perkuliahan dalam rumpun teknologi informasi (IT) terkenal memiliki pembelajaran yang berkutat pada komputer dan aktivitas pemrograman (<\/span>coding<\/span><\/i>). Alih-alih demikian, Departemen Sistem Informasi (SI) justru banyak mempelajari ragam ilmu lewat pendekatan sosial humaniora (soshum).<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Kepala Departemen Sistem Informasi Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS), Dr Mudjahidin ST MT mengenalkan, SI merupakan prodi yang mempelajari cara menjembatani penyedia produk IT dengan penggunanya. \u201cDalam hal ini, mahasiswa SI akan mempelajari metode untuk menyesuaikan produk IT dengan kebutuhan pengguna produk,\u201d imbuhnya melanjutkan.<\/span><\/p>\n

Mudjahidin mengumpamakan, jika IT merupakan sebuah rumah makan, mahasiswa SI memiliki peran sebagai seorang pramusaji. Tentunya, pramusaji perlu memahami hidangan yang dimasak oleh koki serta jenis santapan yang diinginkan konsumen. \u201cJadi, pramusaji (mahasiswa SI, red) bertugas menyelaraskan keinginan pelanggan dengan jenis masakan hasil olahan koki (penyedia produk, red),\u201d tutur dosen ini.<\/span><\/p>\n

Selaras dengan hal tersebut, mahasiswa SI ITS angkatan 2018, Alfina Shahira Putri menyatakan jika prodi SI juga banyak membahas metode untuk menghubungkan perilaku manusia dengan komputer. \u201cHal ini tersebar dalam ragam mata kuliah di Departemen SI ITS,\u201d lanjut Alfina.<\/span><\/p>\n

Lebih dalam, Alfina mengakui bahwa SI ITS masih memiliki beberapa mata kuliah wajib yang berhubungan dengan <\/span>coding<\/span><\/i>. Meskipun pada awalnya ia tidak memiliki kecakapan khusus di bidang tersebut, Alfina merasakan kemudahan berkat metode pengajaran dosen SI ITS yang unik dan variatif. \u201cSelain itu, ada banyak sumber belajar yang sangat memudahkan saya dalam memahami materi perkuliahan,\u201d imbuhnya.<\/span><\/p>\n

Dalam aktivitas perkuliahannya, perempuan yang tergabung dalam peminatan di Laboratorium Sistem Enterprise (SE) ini menyontohkan dirinya yang memilih untuk lebih fokus dalam pendekatan bisnis di SI. \u201cAktivitas saya di lab tersebut banyak mempelajari manajemen proses produksi dan hilirisasi produk di suatu perusahaan,\u201d ujar Alfina.<\/span><\/p>\n

Di sisi lain, pada praktik perkuliahan, Mudjahidin mengungkapkan bahwa mahasiswa SI akan tetap mempelajari ragam mata kuliah seperti Algoritma dan Pemrograman, Pemrograman Berbasis Web, hingga Rancang Bangun Perangkat Lunak. Dalam aspek soshum, mereka akan mempelajari pendekatan bisnis lewat mata kuliah Analitika Bisnis, Manajemen Proses Bisnis, Sistem Enterprise, Kecerdasan Bisnis, Rintisan Bisnis Digital, dan sebagainya.<\/span><\/p>\n

Sebagai prodi Sistem Informasi pertama di Indonesia, SI ITS memiliki empat laboratorium penelitian. Di antaranya ialah Sistem Enterprise, Manajemen Sistem Informasi, Rekayasa Data dan Intelegensi Bisnis, Akuisisi Data dan Diseminasi Informasi, serta Infrastruktur dan Keamanan Teknologi Informasi. \u201cMahasiswa mulai dapat memilih dan mengikuti lab penelitian pada saat menempuh semester 6,\u201d papar dosen ini.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Mudjahidin menambahkan, mahasiswa SI juga dapat memiliki kemudahan khusus yang memungkinkan mereka untuk terjun ke ragam spesialisasi pekerjaan. Hal tersebut lantaran keilmuan SI bersifat umum dan menyeluruh. \u201cLulusan kami (SI ITS, red) dapat bekerja sebagai <\/span>business analyst, project manager, systems analyst, data and information engineer,<\/span><\/i> hingga pengusaha <\/span>startup <\/span><\/i>berbasis IT,\u201d sambungnya menjabarkan.<\/span><\/p>\n

Ke depannya, Mudjahidin mengungkapkan, Departemen SI ITS akan mendirikan prodi baru yakni prodi Inovasi Digital. \u201cHal tersebut bertujuan untuk mendukung spesialisasi di bidang IT yang terus menerus berkembang,” kata pria berkacamata ini.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Terakhir, Mudjahidin menyatakan bahwa saat ini merupakan era digitalisasi informasi. \u201cDepartemen Sistem Informasi adalah pintu masa depan bagi calon mahasiswa agar siap bersaing di era tersebut,\u201d pungkasnya. <\/span>(*)<\/b><\/p>\n
