Kampus ITS, ITS News\u00a0 \u2014<\/strong> Resmi didirikan 2018 lalu, Departemen Teknologi Informasi<\/a> Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) melengkapi jajaran rumpun Information Technology<\/i> (IT) di ITS bersama Teknik Informatika, Sistem Informasi, serta Teknik Komputer. Lantas, apa yang membedakan Departemen Teknologi Informasi dengan ketiga program studi (prodi) lainnya?<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Menurut penuturan Kepala Departemen Teknologi Informasi ITS, Drtechn Ir Raden Venantius Hari Ginardi MSc, perbedaan keempat prodi di ITS tersebut ada pada tingkat kedalaman topik IT tertentu. Misalnya, Teknologi Informasi adalah keilmuan yang berfokus pada pengembangan keamanan siber dan teknologi berbasis internet. \u201cSederhananya, prodi ini adalah versi Teknik Informatika yang lebih terapan,\u201d tutur dosen yang akrab disapa Hari tersebut.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Lebih lanjut Hari menjelaskan, mahasiswa S1 Teknologi Informasi ITS<\/a> akan banyak mempelajari hal-hal yang berkaitan dengan bidang komputasi, seperti pada mata kuliah teknologi web, teknologi\u00a0 keamanan komputer, sistem operasi, hingga pengadaan dan penjaminan kualitas IT. Hal ini disesuaikan dengan standar kurikulum internasional Association for Computing Machinery (ACM)<\/a> dan kurikulum nasional Asosiasi Perguruan Tinggi Informatika dan Komputer (Aptikom).<\/span><\/p>\n

Inilah yang disebutkan Hari membedakan Teknologi Informasi dengan Teknik Informatika yang cenderung berfokus pada konsep teoritis terkait cara kerja sistem komputer serta pengembangan algoritma untuk memecahkan masalah yang ada. Prodi ini juga dikatakan Hari berbeda dengan Prodi Sistem Informasi yang lebih fokus mempelajari solusi IT dalam proses bisnis untuk memenuhi kebutuhan informasi suatu organisasi atau perusahaan.<\/span><\/p>\n

Lain halnya dengan Teknik Komputer. Menurut Hari, prodi ini cenderung berfokus pada perancangan perangkat keras <\/span>(hardware)<\/span><\/i> berbasis digital. \u201cSebenarnya Prodi Teknik Komputer juga mempelajari hal-hal terkait informatika, sistem informasi, dan teknologi informasi, tetapi tidak secara mendalam,\u201d imbuh Hari.<\/span><\/p>\n

Meski demikian, Hari menjelaskan, lulusan dari keempat prodi tersebut memiliki ranah kerja yang bersinggungan. Ia mencontohkan, jika lulusan Teknik Informatika umumnya merumuskan solusi dari suatu masalah ke dalam algoritma tanpa terlibat langsung dalam penerapannya, maka lulusan Teknologi Informasi bertanggung jawab terhadap penerapan algoritma tersebut hingga pengelolaan IT di suatu perusahaan.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Tidak hanya itu, Ia menyebutkan bahwa keempat prodi tersebut memiliki spesialisasi dan urgensinya masing-masing dalam memenuhi tantangan pekerjaan baru yang semakin spesifik saat ini. Oleh karenanya, Ia berpesan kepada calon mahasiswa baru agar mempertimbangkan minat serta penerapan dari masing-masing prodi saat menentukan jurusan kuliah.<\/span><\/p>\n

Selain itu, Hari juga mengingatkan untuk memperhatikan keketatan penerimaan dari tiap-tiap prodi serta mencari referensi dari kakak tingkat. Terakhir, Ia mengemukakan, meski Teknologi Informasi berusia paling muda di rumpun sejenisnya, Teknologi Informasi telah memulai era internasionalisasi. \u201cBagi kawan-kawan yang akan menjadi bagian dari Teknologi Informasi, di tahun ini kami akan semakin siap untuk go internasional,<\/i>\u201d pungkasnya.(*)<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n
