ITS Campus, ITS News<\/span><\/b>\u2013 Robot Medical Assistant ITS<\/a>\u2013Unair<\/a> (RAISA) is trusted by again Directorate General of Higher Education, Research, and Technology (Directorate General of Higher Education) to treat Covid-19 patients. This time, the RAISA ordered by the Directorate General of Higher Education will be handed over to various teaching hospitals in Indonesia, including the General Hospital of the University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM Hospital).<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Muhtadin ST MT, ITS Robotics Team Supervisor and one of the RAISA robot development teams, explained that at the end of 2021, the Directorate General of Higher Education asked ITS to build 46 RAISA units. All of these units will deploy in all teaching hospitals in Indonesia. and it is estimated that there will be more than 20 teaching hospitals in various regions. “RAISA was handed over to various regions from Aceh to Mataram (NTB, ed),” he said.<\/span><\/p>\n

Some time ago, ITS represented Diktiristek in handing over the RAISA robot to UMM Hospital. Before being handed over to the UMM RSU, ITS provided the first training on the use of the RAISA robot. “The robot operated at UMM RSU and other teaching hospitals that received RAISA, but the handover session on March 12 was only symbolic,” explained the lecturer at the ITS Computer Engineering Department.<\/span><\/p>\n

Muhtadin said that the RAISA robot was used to reduce direct contact between medical personnel and Covid-19 patients who were treated in hospitals. As previously reported, the RAISA robot will help to send the needs of Covid-19 patients such as food, medicine, and personal belongings of patients. “Not only that, but RAISA also makes it easier for patients and medical personnel to communicate without direct contact with patients,” he added.<\/span><\/p>\n

In the end, Muhtadin hopes that the RAISA robot can be used. Not only for handling Covid-19 patients but also for other infectious diseases. Among them are Tuberculosis (TBC), Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF), Malaria, and other diseases. “However, for now, the RAISA robot is still prioritized for Covid-19 patients,” he said.
