Beranjak dari hal tersebut, profesor dari <a href=\"https:\/\/www.its.ac.id\/kimia\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Departemen Kimia<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.its.ac.id\/study-at-its\/faculties-and-departments\/faculty-of-science-and-data-analytics\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Fakultas Sains dan Analitika Data (FSAD)<\/a> Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) Prof Adi Setyo Purnomo SSi MSc PhD berinovasi memanfaatkan jamur pelapuk kayu sebagai pendegradasi limbah industri.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Sebagai pendahuluan, Adi menyampaikan latar belakang pemanfaatan jamur sebagai biodegradasi limbah karena jamur memiliki banyak enzim yang dapat digunakan untuk menguraikan polutan-polutan. Pada umumnya, jamur pelapuk kayu dibagi menjadi dua jenis yaitu jamur pelapuk kayu putih dan jamur pelapuk kayu coklat. \u201cKarena jarang diteliti, saya tertantang untuk meneliti jamur pelapuk kayu coklat,\u201d paparnya.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Lebih lanjut, lelaki kelahiran Surabaya, 24 Juli 1980 ini menuturkan bahwa secara teori, jamur pelapuk kayu coklat mengandung senyawa radikal hidroksil yang mampu mendegradasi struktur kimia kompleks pada limbah polutan. Oleh karena itu, jamur dinilai sesuai untuk menjadi agen pendegradasi limbah-limbah kimiawi. \u201cTapi durasi proses biodegradasi ini memakan waktu yang lama yaitu dua minggu,\u201d tandas suami dari Sri Fatmawati SSi MSc PhD ini.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Untuk mempercepat proses biodegradasi, Adi mengombinasikan jamur tersebut dengan bakteri yang memiliki kemampuan biodegradasi yang tinggi seperti Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Bacillus subtilis, dan Ralstonia pickettii. Selain itu, Adi juga membuat produk berupa super-adsorpsi yang mengandung jamur dan bakteri agen pendegradasi. \u201cSaya membuat super-adsorpsi agar proses degradasi limbah menjadi lebih cepat,\u201d ungkap ayah empat anak ini.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Dalam implementasinya, super-adsorpsi dengan bahan jamur dan bakteri ini diterapkan pada limbah tekstil dari industri batik. Pada prinsipnya, bahan super-adsorpsi akan dimasukan ke dalam reaktor pendegradasi yang berisi limbah tekstil dan bahan-bahan adsorben lain seperti arang aktif, mangan, dan zeolit.
