Hal ini mendorong Prof Dr Eng I Made Yulistya Negara ST MSc, salah satu profesor dari Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) meneliti tentang karakteristik corona discharge sebagai deteksi dini kerusakan peralatan sistem energi listrik.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Sebagai pendahuluan, Made menjelaskan bahwa kerusakan pada peralatan listrik dapat ditandai dari terjadinya korsleting. Selain itu juga ditandai dengan peluahan arus listrik saat isolator mengalami penurunan kualitas isolasi yang dikenal dengan partial discharge. \u201cPartial discharge merupakan peristiwa lepasnya bunga api listrik karena adanya beda potensial yang tinggi pada isolasi tersebut,\u201d terangnya.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Lebih lanjut, lelaki kelahiran Negara, Bali ini pun menjelaskan salah satu bentuk partial discharge yang stabil yaitu corona discharge. Fenomena corona discharge disebabkan karena pelepasan muatan pada media isolasi cair atau gas yang berada di sekeliling konduktor. Corona discharge dapat terjadi ketika arus listrik yang memancar pada bagian konduktor runcing langsung ke udara. \u201cKita meneliti karakteristiknya untuk mendiagnosis kerusakan apa yang terjadi pada peralatan listrik,\u201d ungkap profesor ke-146 ITS yang baru dikukuhkan 15 Maret lalu.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_66799\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-66799\" style=\"width: 714px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-66799 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.its.ac.id\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/03\/Metode-deteksi-arcing.jpeg\" alt=\"Metode deteksi arcing pada tegangan rendah\" width=\"714\" height=\"421\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.its.ac.id\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/03\/Metode-deteksi-arcing.jpeg 714w, https:\/\/www.its.ac.id\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/03\/Metode-deteksi-arcing-300x177.jpeg 300w, https:\/\/www.its.ac.id\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/03\/Metode-deteksi-arcing-355x209.jpeg 355w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 714px) 100vw, 714px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-66799\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Metode deteksi arcing pada tegangan rendah<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Dosen Teknik Elektro ITS ini juga menuturkan bahwa penggunaan peralatan listrik bertegangan tinggi membutuhkan isolasi yang kompleks. Bahan isolasinya pun tidak bisa dihindarkan dari adanya kontaminan seperti konduktif partikel yang bergerak di dalam isolasi. Alhasil, isolasi yang kompleks akan rentan mengalami fenomena corona discharge. \u201cApabila tidak segera diatasi, maka akan menimbulkan kerusakan peralatan listrik bahkan dapat mengalami breakdown,\u201d tegas dosen kelahiran 12 Juli 1970 itu.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Selain pada tegangan tinggi, karakteristik corona discharge digunakan untuk mengetahui kerusakan alat listrik bertegangan rendah. Salah satunya adalah kebakaran akibat dari adanya arc flash yang berasal dari bagian dalam kabel yang bersentuhan dan berbeda potensialnya. Peristiwa ini biasa disebut arcing. Namun dengan memanfaatkan pengetahuan tentang karakteristik corona discharge dapat dilakukan pencegahan terjadinya kebakaran pada peralatan listrik.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Ayah tiga putri ini menjelaskan bahwa ia dan rekannya di Laboratorium Tegangan Tinggi, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.its.ac.id\/telektro\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Departemen Teknik Elektro ITS<\/a> sedang mengembangkan peralatan untuk mendeteksi arcing pada tegangan rendah.
