Kampus ITS, ITS News<\/strong> – Profesor yang dimiliki oleh Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS)<\/a> kini genap berjumlah 148 orang, dengan bertambahnya lagi tiga orang profesor baru. Ketiga profesor baru ITS tersebut berasal dari tiga bidang ilmu berbeda sekaligus, yaitu dari Departemen Teknik Elektro, Departemen Kimia, dan Departemen Teknik Fisika yang dikukuhkan secara resmi di Gedung Research Center ITS, Selasa (15\/3).<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Dalam prosesi pengukuhan yang dipimpin langsung oleh Ketua Dewan Profesor (DP) ITS Prof Dr Ir Imam Robandi ini digelar secara hybrid. Prosesi digelar secara luring dengan dihadiri beberapa pimpinan tinggi ITS dan masing-masing keluarga dari ketiga profesor baru tersebut. Sedangkan kerabat, kolega, dan sivitas akademika ITS bisa mengikuti siaran langsung prosesinya yang disiarkan melalui kanal YouTube ITSTV.<\/p>\n

Orasi ilmiah diawali oleh Prof Dr Eng I Made Yulistya Negara ST MSc dengan topik peneltian bertajuk Karakteristik Corona Discharge sebagai Deteksi Dini Kerusakan Peralatan Sistem Energi Listrik<\/em>. \u201cSistem peralatan elektrik untuk transmisi energi listrik membutuhkan bahan isolasi sebagai pemisah bagian bertegangan dan tidak bertegangan,\u201d jelas dosen Departemen Teknik Elektro ITS yang dikukuhkan sebagai profesor ke-146 ITS ini.<\/p>\n

Bahan isolasi yang juga disebut bahan dielektrik ini sangat rentan terhadap medan listrik lokal. Salah satu penyebab medan listrik lokal yang tinggi ialah ketidakmurnian dan cacat pada bahan isolasi yang akan menimbulkan fenomena partial discharge<\/em> (PD). Fenomena PD yang terjadi pada dielektrik gas inilah yang disebut dengan corona discharge<\/em>. \u201cCorona discharge<\/em> ini perlu dideteksi sedini mungkin untuk menghindari kegagalan bahan dielektrik pada peralatan elektrik,\u201d ungkap lelaki kelahiran Negara, Bali 1970 ini.<\/p>\n

Berikutnya dilanjutkan oleh Prof Adi Setyo Purnomo SSi MSc PhD. Dosen Departemen Kimia ITS ini membawakan orasi ilmiah bertema biodegradasi limbah dengan tajuk Peran Jamur Pelapuk Kayu sebagai Agen Pendegradasi Limbah Industri<\/em>. \u201cLimbah pewarna sintetis merupakan senyawa stabil yang sulit terdegraAdasi di alam dan mampu membahayakan kesehatan manusia bila terhirup,\u201d tutur lelaki asal Surabaya ini.<\/p>\n

Profesor ke-147 ITS ini menjelaskan salah satu metode pengolahan limbah pewarna yang efektif ialah dengan biodecolorization<\/em> dengan menggunakan organisme (jamur dan bakteri) sebagai agen penghilang warna. Metode ini menawarkan metode yang aman, efisien, dan ekonomis. \u201cJamur pelapuk kayu jenis pelapuk coklat memiliki sistem yang lebih cepat dan efektif untuk mendegredasi polutan organik dibandingkan jamur lain,\u201d tambah alumnus Departemen Kimia ITS ini.<\/p>\n

Orasi ilmiah diakhiri oleh Prof Totok Ruki Biyanto ST MT PhD dengan orasi berjudul Peran Optimasi dan Pengendalian Proses dalam Mensukseskan Pembangunan Manusia dan Alam Hijau Berkelanjutan di Indonesia<\/em>. \u201cPengendalian dan optimasi proses merupakan aksi mencapai kinerja dan keuntungan terbaik dalam pembangunan manusia, namun tetap menjaga kelestarian alam,\u201d ucap dosen Departemen Teknik Fisika ITS ini.<\/p>\n

Lebih dalam, profesor ke-148 ITS ini menyampaikan bahwa peran optimasi dan pengendalian dalam praktik hijau mampu meningkatkan keekonomisan dan profibilitas. Beberapa industri menerapkan praktik hijau sekedar pemenuhan persyaratan hukum. Nyatanya, optimasi praktik hijau dan keuntungan ekonomi sangat berhubungan erat.<\/p>\n

\u201cPenelitian berfokus pada pengurangan bahan kimia, pengembangan produk yang lebih ramah lingkungan, serta menghasilkan profit maksimum,\u201d terang kepala Laboratorium Instrumentasi, Kontrol, dan Optimasi Departemen Teknik Fisika ITS ini.<\/p>\n

Pada prosesi pengukuhan ini, Rektor ITS Prof Dr Ir Mochamad Ashari MEng turut memberikan ucapan selamat kepada tiga profesor yang baru saja dikukuhkan. Rektor yang kerap disapa Ashari ini berharap lahirnya profesor di ITS dapat terus meningkat dan inovasi di ITS dapat semakin bertumbuh. \u201cSemoga gelar baru ini mampu memberikan manfaat bagi keberlangsungan hidup manusia dan terus memajukan kemanusiaan,\u201d tuturnya penuh harap.<\/p>\n

Terakhir, Ketua Dewan Profesor ITS Prof Dr Ir Imam Robandi MT turut menyampaikan pidato pengukuhan. Profesor dari Departemen Teknik Elektro ITS yang juga dikenal sebagai seorang dalang ini mengucapkan selamat kepada ketiganya. \u201cSelamat kepada profesor yang telah dikukuhkan dan teruslah berinovasi membawa kemajuan bagi bangsa ini,\u201d pungkasnya berpesan.
