Salah satu upaya Indonesia dalam menerapkan EBT adalah melalui pemanfaatan Solar Photovoltaic (PV) atau Panel Surya. Departemen Fisika <a href=\"http:\/\/its.ac.id\">Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember<\/a> (ITS) undang praktisi Panel Surya Indonesia,\u00a0 Yudhi Vernanda SSi dalam lokakarya untuk bahas habis cara kerja Solar PV.<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Dalam workshop inisiasi Laboratorium Elektronika dan Instrumentasi Departemen Fisika ITS ini, Yudhi menjelaskan bahwa salah satu sektor yang berkembang pesat dalam pengembangan energi sel surya adalah photovoltaic. Photovoltaic sendiri diartikan sebagai alat untuk mengubah energi surya menjadi energi listrik yang bersumber dari EBT melalui material semikonduksi.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Photovoltaic menjadi bagian yang tak terpisahkan pada panel surya dalam menjalankan \u201ctugasnya\u201d. Efek photovoltaic ini sendiri merupak<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">an suatu fenomena munculnya tegangan listrik akibat adanya kontak antara dua elektrode yang dihubungkan dengan suatu media saat terkena energi dari cahaya matahari.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Lebih detail, Yudhi menyebutkan bahwa sinar matahari memiliki partikel bernama foton ketika ia sampai di bumi. Solar panel yang merupakan kumpulan sel surya memiliki rangkaian semikonduktor yang terdiri dari atom-atom. \u201cKetika foton menghantam atom sel surya tersebut maka energinya mampu memisahkan elektron dari atom tersebut,\u201d paparnya.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Pada akhirnya, elektron yang memiliki muatan negatif akan bergerak pada daerah pita konduksi dan material semikonduktor. Atom akan kehilangan elektron dan bisa disebut dengan hole dengan muatan positif. Semikonduktor dengan hole akan memiliki sifat positif dan bertugas untuk menerima elektron disebut juga dengan semikonduktor tipe P. Elektron akan menjauhi daerah negatif dan hole akan menjauhi daerah positif. &#8220;Sehingga ketika diberikan sebuah beban dengan menggunakan perangkat listrik maka akan menimbulkan arus listrik,&#8221; jelasnya.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Pada dasarnya, Yudhi mengungkapkan panel surya ini merupakan suatu diode foton yang memiliki permukaan yang sangat besar sehingga semakin ia dapat menangkap sinar matahari lebih banyak maka akan menghasilkan energi listrik yang lebih besar pula.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Panel surya mungkin saat ini masih kurang digunakan bahkan masih banyak yang awam. Namun, bukan berarti tidak ada yang menggunakan. &#8220;Panel surya ini biasa digunakan untuk pembangkit listrik di rumah, sekolah, kantor, dan yang terbaru saat ini adalah digunakan untuk pompa air,&#8221; ujarnya.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Menutup pelatihan, Yudi menyarankan kepada seluruh mahasiswa untuk segera beralih dan mencoba sisi hemat dengan menggunakan solar panel.
