ITS Campus, ITS News<\/strong> \u2013 In commemoration of the National Waste Care Day, the Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS)<\/a> in collaboration with the Institute of Global Environmental Strategies (IGES)<\/a> assisted several Waste Banks in Indonesia, Wednesday (9\/3). This collaboration as well as the handover of aid aims to build awareness of the Indonesian people in managing waste properly.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

The handover of assistance was attended by the Head of the Surabaya City Environmental Service Agus Hebi Djuniantoro ST MT, representatives of the Head of the Malang Regency Environmental Service Ir Renung Rubiyatadji MM, and ITS Director of Research and Community Service (DRPM)<\/a>\u00a0Fadlilatul Taufany ST PhD.<\/p>\n

Also present were the Director of CCET IGES from Japan Dr. Prekumara Jagath Dickella Gamaralalage, CCET team leader from Indonesia IDAA Warmadewanthi ST MT PhD, and representatives from each of the Surabaya Waste Bank, Malang Waste Bank, and Griya Luhu Bali Waste Bank.<\/p>\n

IDAA Warmadewanthi ST MT PhD said that although Indonesia has a very good development of waste banks. However, there are still many waste banks that are hampered by infrastructure. “Therefore, ITS and IGES assist in the form of funding,” explained the woman who is familiarly called Warma.<\/p>\n

In addition, according to Warma, ITS and IGES also help waste banks for developing countries, with Indonesia as an example. The reason is that the Indonesian people have a good contribution to waste management. “Therefore, we make e-learning modules as learning materials for other countries,” he explained.<\/p>\n

This ITS Environmental Engineering Department lecturer revealed that the future cooperation plans are still related to waste management. The collaborations that will be carried out include increasing relations with countries that have good waste banks, improving e-learning modules, and helping with an efficient waste management system to waste banks in Indonesia.<\/p>\n

It is hoped that this collaboration will be able to develop the management of waste banks in Indonesia, as well as to build public awareness of waste management. So that Indonesia can be used as a source of knowledge for other developing countries. “Hopefully it can also reduce waste in Indonesia,” he said hopefully. (ITS Public Relation)<\/strong><\/p>\n
