Meninjau hal tersebut, tim Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat (Abmas) Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) ciptakan Adsorben Superadsorpsi untuk mengatasi pencemaran limbah pewarna batik di Desa Klampar, Kabupaten Pamekasan. <\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Ketua tim Abmas, Adi Setyo Purnomo SSi MSc PhD menjelaskan, limbah pewarna tersebut merupakan limbah hasil pencucian batik yang langsung dibuang sehingga dapat mencemari muara sungai pemukiman warga. Selain itu, limbah ini mengandung zat warna sintetik remazol dan naftol yang memiliki sifat racun dan dapat mengancam kesehatan warga maupun hewan ternak. \u201cDikhawatirkan pula limbah tersebut dapat meresap ke dalam sumur air bersih warga,\u201d ujarnya.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Lebih lanjut, Adi menuturkan bahwa bahan adsorben yang dibuat merupakan kombinasi dari silika, zeolite, dan arang aktif. Adsorben ini bekerja melalui ikatan muatan ion pada masing-masing unsur kimia sehingga mempercepat proses dekolorisasi limbah pewarna. \u201cApabila pewarna bermuatan positif, maka akan terserap pada adsorben bermuatan negatif dan sebaliknya,\u201d ungkapnya.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Alasan pemilihan bahan-bahan tersebut karena memiliki luas permukaan dan ukuran pori yang besar sehingga mempercepat penyerapan zat pewarna ke dalam adsorben. Adapun keunggulan masing-masing bahan tersebut adalah silika digunakan untuk menyaring lumpur dan bahan pengotor lain, zeolit untuk menyaring dan mengikat komponen logam berat pada zat pewarna sintetik, dan arang aktif untuk menyaring molekul zat pewarna dan mempercepat proses penjernihan air.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Adapun prinsip adsorpsi limbah pewarna ini diterapkan pada reaktor dekolorisasi. Dalam reaktor ini limbah pewarna akan ditampung dalam tandon berkapasitas 250 liter, kemudian dipompa agar mengalir melalui kolom berisi adsorben secara terus menerus. Serta lima mahasiswa yakni Asranudin, Taufik Rinda Alkas, Alya Awinatul Rohma, Eka Pratiwi Yuniarti, dan Badzlin Nabilah\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Dosen Departemen Kimia ini juga menyampaikan, warga merasa senang dengan adanya solusi dan sosialisasi penanganan limbah tersebut. Sebelumnya, para pengrajin merasa khawatir dengan limbah pewarna batik yang dihasilkan apabila dibuang secara langsung akan berdampak negatif pada perairan dan lahan pertanian<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Di akhir wawancara dengan ITS Online, Adi berharap melalui Abmas ini masyarakat desa Klampar semakin teredukasi terkait bahaya limbah zat pewarna sintetik.
