ITS Campus, ITS News \u2013<\/strong>Accelerating the distribution of the Covid-19 vaccine in Indonesia is currently the government’s main focus in achieving the herd immunity target. Departing from this, the three students from the Department of Engineering and Industrial Systems, Faculty of Industrial Technology and Systems Engineering (FTIRS)<\/a>, Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) initiated a vaccine distribution dashboard<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

The three are Amelia Santoso, Muhammad Ainul Yaqin, and Cindy Novita. They are members of a team called the Aeromechanical Team. According to Amel, the team leader, this innovation takes from the lack of distribution of vaccine stocks to regions throughout Indonesia. “To create herd immunity, it is necessary to accelerate the distribution of the Covid-19 vaccine,” she explained.<\/p>\n

Amel continued that the acceleration of the distribution of the Covid-19 vaccine can be overcome through processing data on existing conditions in Indonesia properly, which is then combined with various regulations, the characteristics of each vaccine, the number of existing health facilities, infrastructure, and medical workers. “So that later, the right method will be created to overcome these problems,” she said.<\/p>\n

In this case, The aeromechanical Team chose to use the P-median method as a method of accelerating the distribution of the Covid-19 vaccine. This method was chosen by Amel and his team because they can determine the hub or distribution center for the vaccine when it is distributed throughout Indonesia. So with this method, the Covid-19 vaccine can supply all corners of the country. “Of course, this will facilitate data processing as well as the results of the analysis,” said this student from Surabaya.<\/p>\n

In addition, this fourth-year student explained that to facilitate monitoring, the team also designed a Vaccine Distribution Dashboard using Power BI (a business analysis service by Microsoft). It is choosing to determine the estimated time needed to accelerate the distribution of the Covid-19 vaccine for how long.<\/p>\n

Not only that, she continued, this dashboard is also used to find out how wide the distribution center facilities are and what combinations of transportation modes are suitable for distribution. “So the handling can be detailed, detailed, and complex,” she said.<\/p>\n

This Alumni of SMA Negeri 2 Surabaya<\/a> said that her team’s innovation has several advantages, including being able to determine the optimal point for each vaccine distribution center using (P-median). The dashboard can also process and display data directly on the progress of the number of vaccines and health facilities in Indonesia which is divided by province to facilitate monitoring and decision making.<\/p>\n

With sweet fruit, the Aeromechanical Team’s ideas have won second place in the DHL Logistic Case Competition held in collaboration between DHL Supply Chain Indonesia and the ITS Master of Technology Management (MMT) early last September. In this competition, the Aeromechanical Team managed to outperform five other finalists who were selected from the 30 best teams from universities throughout Indonesia.<\/p>\n

Amel hopes that in the future, their dashboard innovation can be realized and can help accelerate the distribution of the Covid-19 vaccine in Indonesia. “That way, giving vaccines to people in various regions in Indonesia can be more structured and help achieve herd immunity in Indonesia,” she concluded hopefully.
