Kampus ITS, ITS News – <\/strong>Pencapaian membanggakan kembali diraih sivitas akademika Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS). Melanjutkan kesuksesannya, salah satu guru besar (gubes) ITS Prof Drs Ec Ir Riyanarto Sarno MSc PhD kembali berhasil mencatatkan namanya dalam jajaran Top 2% Scientist in the World: Single Year Impact 2020-2021<\/em> yang baru dirilis oleh Stanford University<\/a> dan Elsevier Report, belum lama ini.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Sama seperti tahun 2020, pemeringkatan ini dilakukan oleh tiga peneliti asal Stanford University. Ketiganya adalah Prof John Ioannidis, Jeroen Baas, dan Kevin Boyack yang melalui publikasi ilmiahnya berjudul Data for Updated Science-Wide Author Databases of Standardized Citation Indicators<\/em>. Peringkat didasarkan pada c-score<\/em> yang merupakan jumlah sitasi publikasi yang tidak termasuk sitasi oleh diri sendiri (nonself-citation<\/em>).<\/p>\n

Berdasarkan pemeringkatan tersebut, gubes asal Departemen Teknik Informatika<\/a>, Fakultas Teknologi Elektro dan Informatika Cerdas (FTEIC) ITS ini tercatat sebagai dua persen atau 100.000 peneliti teratas dari jutaan peneliti di seluruh dunia melalui capaian c-score<\/em> sebanyak 432 sitasi per Agustus 2020 hingga Agustus 2021.<\/p>\n

Lelaki yang akrab disapa Riyan ini mengungkapkan, jumlah sitasi tersebut didapat melalui 294 jurnal dan paper conference<\/em> yang giat ia publikasikan dalam kiprahnya sebagai peneliti sekaligus pendidik mulai tahun 1989. \u201cAdapun untuk rentang tahun 2020 hingga 2021, total publikasi yang saya lakukan ialah sebanyak 77 publikasi yang terdiri dari artikel jurnal dan paper conference<\/em>,\u201d bebernya.<\/p>\n

Fokusan penelitian yang dilakukan oleh Kepala Laboratorium Manajemen Cerdas Informasi, Departemen Teknik Informatika ITS ini ialah pada bidang Artificial Intelligence <\/em>(AI) & Image Processing <\/em>untuk medis. Salah satu penelitian termutakhirnya saat ini ialah Electronic Nose<\/em> atau yang dikenal dengan nama i-nose c-19 untuk mendeteksi virus Covid-19 dan juga mix-reality<\/em> jaringan otak untuk membantu pencarian lokasi jaringan pada operasi bedah otak.<\/p>\n

Lulusan University of New Brunswick, Kanada ini mengungkapkan, motivasi utamanya dalam membuat publikasi ialah keinginan untuk menciptakan teknologi yang bermanfaat bagi Indonesia. \u201cHasil penelitian tak terbatas pada publikasi saja, ilmu ini juga kemudian saya hilirkan menjadi produk substitusi impor, misalnya seperti Electronic Nose<\/em> kemarin,\u201d jelasnya.<\/p>\n

Selain itu, Riyan juga mengungkapkan pentingnya peran kolaborasi sebagai kunci suksesnya dalam melakukan publikasi jurnal dan artikel ilmiah. \u201cSelain berkolaborasi dengan mahasiswa bimbingan dari jenjang sarjana hingga doktor, saya juga melakukan berbagai kolaborasi dengan peneliti dari berbagai negara seperti Jepang, Kanada, Taiwan, dan Belanda,\u201d imbuh dosen kelahiran 1959 ini.<\/p>\n

Menjadi salah satu peneliti asal Indonesia yang turut menyumbang pencapaian bagi negaranya, lelaki yang juga pernah menjabat sebagai Dekan Fakultas Teknologi Informasi ITS periode 2006-2010 ini merasa amat bersyukur. Meskipun, menurutnya, jika dilihat pada publikasi, angka peneliti Indonesia masih dibilang cukup jauh jika dibandingkan dengan peneliti dari negara lain.<\/p>\n

Karenanya, Riyan juga berharap prestasinya ini dapat memotivasi rekan akademisi lainnya untuk terus berkarya, dan membawa nama baik Indonesia di mata dunia. \u201cMudah-mudahan dapat menjadi api pemantik bagi teman-teman dosen, khususnya di ITS dan seluruh Indonesia, untuk mengejar ketertinggalan dan melangkah maju ke depan,\u201d tuturnya penuh harap.
