Kampus ITS, ITS News \u2013\u00a0<\/strong>Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS)<\/a> menjadi salah satu perguruan tinggi yang didapuk Sun Cable, perusahaan jaringan infrastruktur energi surya terbesar di dunia, dalam survey rute kabel tegangan tinggi arus searah. Menindaklanjuti hal tersebut, ITS bersama Sun Cable menandatangani Memorandum of Understanding<\/em> (MoU), Selasa (21\/9).<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Dalam penuturannya, David Griffin, Chief Executive Officer<\/em> (CEO) Sun Cable<\/a> menyatakan, kerja sama ini merupakan tahap dari pengembangan proyek AAPowerLink, pembangkit listrik tenaga surya yang memasok listrik ke Darwin dan Singapura. Proyek unggulan milik perusahaan asal Australia ini diaktualisasikan dengan menggabungkan teknologi berupa energi solar, baterai penyimpanan, serta jaringan kabel tegangan tinggi arus searah yang nantinya akan melewati perairan Indonesia.<\/p>\n

David pun mengungkap kerja sama ini sebagai bentuk komitmen Sun Cable kepada pemerintah Indonesia untuk melibatkan perguruan tinggi dalam penelitian jalur kabel bawah laut yang rencananya akan dimulai Oktober mendatang. \u201cKami berkomitmen untuk membuka kesempatan magang bagi mahasiswa ITS di penelitian ini,\u201d terang David.<\/p>\n

Nantinya, lanjut David, data yang diambil dari survei kelautan akan menjadi data bersama yang dimanfaatkan sebagai bahan studi. Sun Cable berharap kerja sama ini mampu mentransfer teknologi dan ilmu pengetahuan kepada bangsa Indonesia dalam menjalankan interkoneksi listrik.<\/p>\n

Menyambut hal tersebut, Rektor ITS Prof Dr Ir Mochamad Ashari MEng mengaku pihaknya memiliki pengalaman dalam meng-install<\/em> dan meneliti kabel bawah laut serta kabel optik. Ia menuturkan, kesempatan ini akan memberi inspirasi kepada para ahli kelistrikan ITS untuk mengembangkan sistem ekspor energi listrik sekalipun menempuh jarak yang jauh.<\/p>\n

Bahkan, rektor yang akrab disapa Ashari ini menyampaikan kegembiraannya bisa turut serta dalam permulaan proyek yang sangat berprospek ke depannya di bidang pengembangan Energi Baru Terbarukan (EBT). \u201cTerima kasih Sun Cable, kami senang jika mahasiswa dan dosen kami (ITS, red) dapat terlibat dalam survei ini dalam waktu dekat,\u201d tukasnya.
