ITS has been categorized as one of the best campuses in Indonesia according to THE WUR 2022<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

ITS Campus, ITS News \u2013<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0The efforts of\u00a0<\/span>Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember<\/span><\/a>\u00a0to become a\u00a0<\/span>world class university<\/span><\/em>\u00a0\u00a0and the best in Indonesia continue to be carried out every year.\u00a0This time, it was proven by the success of obtaining an increase in scores in two assessment indicators in the\u00a02022\u00a0<\/span>Times Higher Education<\/span><\/em>\u00a0\u00a0(THE)\u00a0<\/span>World University Rankings<\/span><\/em>\u00a0\u00a0(WUR)<\/span><\/a>\u00a0which was officially released, Thursday (2\/9).<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

The two assessment indicators that experienced an increase were in the areas of\u00a0<\/span>Research <\/span><\/em>and\u00a0<\/span>International Outlook<\/span><\/em>.\u00a0In this ranking, ITS is included in the top eight best universities in Indonesia with a score of 19.0, in the average range of 10.6 \u2013 22.3.\u00a0Overall, ITS is ranked 1,200+ globally from more than 1,600 universities that participate and are included in the ranking.<\/span><\/p>\n

As famously known, THE is an institution providing university performance data in the international arena in collaboration with Quacquarelli Symonds (QS). <\/span>It can be said, Times Higher Education (THE) is one of the most influential institutions in ranking universities worldwide.<\/span><\/p>\n

ITS Senior Manager for World Class University Affairs Rulli Pratiwi Setiawan ST MSc Ph.D. said there are five assessment criteria in THE WUR. “The five criteria are <\/span>Teaching<\/span><\/em>\u00a0\u00a0(teaching),\u00a0<\/span>Research<\/span><\/em>\u00a0\u00a0(research),\u00a0<\/span>Citation<\/span><\/em>\u00a0\u00a0(citation),\u00a0<\/span>International Outlook<\/span><\/em>\u00a0\u00a0(international view), and\u00a0<\/span>Industry Outcome<\/span><\/em> \u00a0(industrial income),” she explained.<\/span><\/p>\n

This doctoral alumnus of Hiroshima University, Japan, explained that each assessment criteria has its own weight in determining the overall score. In detail, the fields of\u00a0<\/span>teaching, research<\/span><\/em>, and\u00a0<\/span>citations weigh<\/span><\/em>\u00a030 percent each, the\u00a0<\/span>international outlook <\/span><\/em>has 7.5 percent, and <\/span>industry income <\/span><\/em>has a weight of 2.5 percent.<\/span><\/p>\n

Of the five assessment criteria, ITS obtained a score of 19.00 for\u00a0<\/span>Teaching<\/span><\/em>, 16.50 for\u00a0<\/span>Citation,<\/span><\/em>\u00a0\u00a0and 61.40 for\u00a0<\/span>Industry Income<\/span><\/em>.\u00a0For this year’s assessment, ITS increased its score on the <\/span>Research <\/span><\/em>and\u00a0<\/span>International Outlook<\/span><\/em> criteria.\u00a0As a comparison, last year, ITS obtained 12.10 in the <\/span>Research<\/span><\/em> field and 38.20 for the\u00a0<\/span>International Outlook<\/span><\/em>.\u00a0“This year, we got a score of 13.10 in\u00a0<\/span>Research <\/span><\/em>and 38.40 for\u00a0<\/span>International Outlook<\/span><\/em>,” she added.<\/span><\/p>\n

Rulli said that the information available on THE website often deceives readers to read the ranking results. All universities in the same rank also have the same position.\u00a0“Because at the same rank, writing is sorted alphabetically by ignoring the words ‘University’ or ‘Institut,’ then in this website ranking ITS will be in alphabetical order S,” she explained.<\/span><\/p>\n

This ITS Regional and City Planning Department (PWK) lecturer said that ITS would increase research collaboration and international collaboration to increase publications and citations. “Revenues both from research collaborations and industrial collaborations also need to be continuously increased because this is one of THE indicators of assessment,” she said.<\/span><\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Rulli revealed that ITS is also trying to improve its quality in the field of\u00a0<\/span>International Outlook<\/span><\/em> by adding international staff,\u00a0<\/span>international co-authorship<\/span><\/em>, and increasing the percentage of international students.\u00a0“For that, cooperation and synergy from all departments are needed so that ITS’s achievements in the next year’s THE ranking can be even better,” she concluded. <\/span>(ITS Public Relations)<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n
