CommTECH 2021 \u2013 Summer Edition participants consisting of international students and held online<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

ITS Campus, ITS News \u2013<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0The spread of Covid-19 as a pandemic in the world, including Indonesia, does not prevent the regular Community and Technological Camp (CommTECH) held by the Directorate of Global Partnerships (DKG) of the Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology (ITS) in 2021. Still being organized online, ITS Global Engagement<\/a> officially opened CommTECH \u2013 Summer Edition on Monday (23\/8), with the theme of solving local problems in Indonesia and participating countries with global insights.<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Ahmad Zulfiqar Rahman Aji, CommTECH 2021 Program Coordinator, said that this time CommTECH was the third CommTECH to be held online. Several countries in Asia followed this time, including Japan, Malaysia, the Philippines, China, and Bangladesh.<\/span><\/p>\n

In contrast to the offline CommTECH, the online version has twice as many sub-courses and four learning materials. “Because we think it is more flexible, we decide to increase the number of materials or courses delivered,” he added.<\/span><\/p>\n

The sub-courses that will be explained in CommTECH 2021 broadly include engineering and cultural material. The four sub-courses that will be delivered are E (User Design Course), F (Risk Assessment in Lab and Industry), G (Ring of Fire: Wonderful Indonesia), and H (How to Build an Autonomous Ship). The four sub-courses are held from late July to early September.<\/span><\/p>\n

The engineering material describes the ITS field as a university that is more active in technology. At the same time, the cultural material represents the cultures that exist in Indonesia, where the ITS campus is located.<\/span><\/p>\n

Zul, his nickname, explained that the technical material presentation was carried out in a breakout room on the Zoom platform with a smaller number of participants. Thus, the learning process can be carried out in a focused and efficient manner. “For non-academic presentations, especially Indonesian culture, will be held in the main room,” explained the young man from Jakarta.<\/span><\/p>\n

This Informatics Department student added that experienced ITS lecturers and students would explain the engineering material. Then related to cultural material in Indonesia, DKG invited ITS external and internal parties to fill in the material. “We invite external and internal parties to share Indonesian culture with participants, such as traditional dances, batik, and others,” he said.<\/span><\/p>\n

Representing the DKG ITS, Zul hopes that Indonesian culture can be spread and introduced to outsiders. He also hopes that CommTECH, which more than 20 international students attended, can add insight, enthusiasm, and productivity during this pandemic. “Hopefully, the existence of CommTECH 2021 can have positive implications for students who follow it,” he concluded.\u00a0<\/span>(sel\/ITS Public Relation)<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n
