Kampus ITS, ITS News \u2013 <\/b>Geothermal atau panas bumi merupakan sumber energi terbarukan dengan kelebihan yang besar dibanding energi terbarukan lainnya. Hal ini ditunjang pula dengan jumlah potensi dan produksi panas bumi Indonesia yang tergolong sangat besar. Mengulas lebih dalam mengenai panas bumi di Indonesia, <\/span>Society of Petroleum Engineer Student Chapter<\/span><\/i> Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (SPE ITS SC) menghelat Guest Lecture <\/em><\/span>Geothermal Week<\/span><\/i> yang berlangsung selama tiga hari hingga Minggu, (23\/5).\u00a0<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Ashadi Ashadi, Drilling Manager KS Orka Renewables menyatakan bahwa panas bumi bisa juga disebut sebagai energi berkelanjutan. Mula-mula, panas yang dihasilkan magma di dalam kerak bumi, dapat dimanfaatkan untuk menggerakkan turbin. “Dalam proses menghasilkan energi listrik ini, akan dihasilkan kondensat atau brine\u00a0<\/em>berupa sisa air yang akan diinjeksikan kembali ke dalam perut bumi untuk siklus selanjutnya” paparnya dalam Guest Lecture <\/em>pada gelaran Geothermal Week.<\/i><\/span><\/p>\n

Lebih lanjut, selain dari segi keberlanjutan, Ashadi menjelaskan bahwa panas bumi juga menghasilkan emisi yang sangat rendah, sehingga bersifat ramah lingkungan. \u201cDibandingkan sumber energi terbarukan yang lain seperti solar, air dan angin, panas bumilah yang mampu memenuhi kebutuhan listrik selama 24 jam tanpa henti, atau disebut baseloader<\/em>,\u201d ungkap alumnus Universitas Indonesia ini.<\/span><\/p>\n

Melihat kelebihan energi panas bumi yang demikian, papar Ashadi, merupakan potensi yang sangat besar bagi Indonesia agar dapat memanfaatkannya dengan baik. Belum lagi, posisi Indonesia yang berada di cincin api (<\/span>ring of fire<\/span><\/i>)<\/span> membuat produksi panas buminya menempati posisi nomor dua di dunia setelah Amerika Serikat. “Apalagi untuk potensinya, Indonesia menduduki peringkat teratas dengan jumlah potensi sebesar 29 gigawatt,” sambungnya.<\/span><\/p>\n

Ashadi mengatakan, bagi Indonesia angka ini tidak berhenti di tempat, bahkan masih bisa ditingkatkan lagi. Hal inilah yang mendasari target pemerintah untuk dapat memanfaatkan panas bumi hingga 7200 megawatt per tahun pada 2025 mendatang. “Dengan asumsi satu sumur menghasilkan 5 megawatt dan peluang keberhasilan pengeboran 60 persen, maka akan membutuhkan 190 sumur per tahun seharga 5 juta USD per sumur.” ulasnya.<\/span><\/p>\n

Meskipun begitu, Ashadi mengutarakan bahwa sumber daya manusia yang ahli masih terlalu sedikit untuk mencapai target tersebut. Hal ini pula salah satu penyebab pemanfaatan panas bumi di Indonesua sejak 1983 hanya mencapai 8 persen. Hal ini menggambarkan masih sangat besarnya potensi yang masih belum dimanfaatkan dengan baik oleh negeri ini. \u201cOleh karenanya, besar harapan bagi para mahasiswa untuk terjun berkecimpung di dalam industri ini agar keresahan ini dapat teratasi,\u201d tutup Ashadi.\u00a0(*)<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n
