Berlatar hal tersebut, tiga mahasiswa <a href=\"https:\/\/www.its.ac.id\/kimia\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Departemen Kimia<\/a> Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) menggagas bahan kimia sintetis yang mampu mereduksi gas buang kendaraan bermotor, dengan memanfaatkan katalis NiMo\/Zeolit-Y hierarki yang mampu mereduksi emisi kendaraan secara optimal.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Tingginya penggunaan kendaraan bermotor di Indonesia menjadi penyumbang terbesar pada buruknya kualitas udara di beberapa kota besar di Indonesia. Tidak hanya menimbulkan polusi udara, emisi kendaraan bermotor seperti karbondioksida (CO2) juga berdampak pada perubahan iklim. \u201cDari permasalahan tersebut kami berusaha mencari solusi untuk mengurangi gas buang kendaraan yang berbahaya bagi lingkungan,\u201d jelas Ardi Lukman Hakim, ketua tim.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Pada tahapan awal, lanjutnya, batuan zeolit disintetis terlebih dahulu, lalu disintetis lagi dengan katalis NiMo. \u201cMerujuk pada penelitian terdahulu, zeolit hanya dapat bekerja bila disintesis bersama zat yang bisa menjadi katalisnya salah satunya ialah NiMo,\u201d ungkap pemuda yang akrab disapa Ardi ini.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Hasil dari sintetis zeolit dan NiMo tersebut menghasilkan NiMo\/Zeolit-Y hierarki dengan tiga konsentrasi yaitu konsentrasi 0,125 M, 0,25 M, dan 0,5 M. Ardi menuturkan bahwa hasil dari sintetis ini akan dikarakterisasi untuk mengetahui lebih lanjut apakah bahan sintetis tersebut sudah terkatalis sempurna dan dapat digunakan. \u201cKatalis komposit yang paling ideal ialah pada konsentrasi 0,25M,\u201d ujar mahasiswa asal Madiun ini.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Lebih dalam, Ardi menjelaskan bahwa konsentrasi yang dianggap paling ideal ini akan dilakukan tahap uji emisi. Pada tahap uji emisi ini katalis akan diimpregnasi dahulu dengan tiga varaibel waktu, yaitu 5 jam, 10 jam, dan 15 jam. Berdasarkan hasil konversi CO dan Hidrokarbon (HC), katalis NiMo\/Zeolit-Y hierarki dengan waktu impregnasi 10 jam lah yang paling optimal, di mana terjadi proses oksidasi CO dan HC akibat kerja katalis NiMo. \u201cHasil impregnasi 10 jam juga memiliki luas permukaan dan volume pori tidak terlalu besar sehingga cocok digunakan memfilter gas emisi,\u201d tambahnya.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Bersama kedua rekannya yang juga mahasiswa angkatan 2020 yakni Fifi Risma Mailani Farikhah dan Novia Nurul Hidayah, tim ini telah berhasil meraih medali emas dalam kompetisi karya tulis ilmiah kategori <em>health and environment<\/em> yang diselenggarakan oleh<a href=\"https:\/\/tp.ub.ac.id\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> Fakultas Teknologi Pertanian (FTP) Universitas Brawijaya<\/a>.
