Based on that, one of the professors of the <a href=\"http:\/\/its.ac.id\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS)<\/a>. Prof. Dr. Ir. Ria Asih Aryani Soemitro MEng analyzed and applied the principle of unsaturated soil to maintain infrastructure stability.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"color: #0e101a\">He explained the research in his inaugural scientific oration as ITS professors on March 31. However, unsaturated soil will be better if there is a fourth phase, namely the air-water interaction phase or\u00a0<i>contractile skin,\u00a0<\/i>which acts as an elastic membrane to influence the mechanical behavior of the soil.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"color: #0e101a\">Furthermore, Ria said that changes in soil characteristics have a domino effect in the form of embankment sliding. Field dry density itself is the dry weight per unit content or soil density itself. From the results obtained, the woman born on January 19, 1956, stated that the dry density of the field remains only 15 percent to 25 percent of the initial dry density in five years.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"color: #0e101a\">This phenomenon indicates the influence of the rainy and dry seasons on the physical characteristics of the soil through the wetting and drying cycles. This is because the physical and mechanical changes of the soil have not been widely discussed by previous researchers. &#8220;From the sensitivity analysis of soil parameters that are very influential for safety figures is cohesion, while soil volume weight does not affect,&#8221; explained the alumnus of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ntu.edu.sg\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Nanyang Technological University (NTU)<\/a>, Singapore.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"color: #0e101a\">Ria conveyed that the process of changing the cross-section of the river began with the interaction between the soil materials that compose the river cross-section and the river flow could potentially result in riverbank sliding. The existence of this riverbank sliding resulted in a change in the cross-section of the river. Thus, erosion occurs at a flow rate of 0.3 to 1 meter per second and material will begin to be transported at a flow rate of between 0.01 to 0.3 meters per second.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"color: #0e101a\">Taking into account the factors and conditions in the field, this\u00a0<i>Principal Investigator\u00a0<\/i>at the MIT Indonesia Research Alliance (MIRA) found that the cumulative erosion rate for predicting river bank erosion was 1.3 meters or about 6 percent below field measurements. &#8220;So we can see that the Erodibility-coefficient value based on field research for prediction of river channel displacement is important,&#8221; explained Ria.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"color: #0e101a\">Ending the presentation delivered, Ria gave an understanding that the Erodibility-coefficient is an important factor.
