This time, Indonesia was again shocked by an earthquake. With a magnitude of 6.7, which rocked the Malang Regency at around 14.00, Saturday (10\/4).<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"color: #0e101a\">According to a senior researcher from the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.its.ac.id\/drpm\/beranda\/pusat\/pusat-penelitian\/puslit-mkpi\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Research Center for Disaster Mitigation and Climate Change (Puslit MKPI)<\/a>, ITS Dr. Ir Amien Widodo MSi, the cause of this earthquake was due to the activity of the subduction zone formed due to the collision of the Indo-Australian plate with the Eurasian plate. The plate collision occurred about 200 kilometers from the southern coast of Java. &#8220;Because of the oblique position of the collision, an earthquake occurred along the path of the collision of the two plates,&#8221; explained the lecturer at the ITS Geophysical Engineering Department.<\/span><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_58069\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-58069\" style=\"width: 960px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-58069 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.its.ac.id\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2021\/04\/WhatsApp-Image-2021-04-10-at-20.54.10.jpeg\" alt=\"Dr Ir Amien Widodo MSi, peneliti senior dari Pusat Penelitian Mitigasi Kebencanaan dan Perubahan Iklim (Puslit MKPI) ITS\" width=\"960\" height=\"1280\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-58069\" class=\"wp-caption-text\"><span style=\"color: #0e101a\">Dr. Ir Amien Widodo MSi, a senior researcher from the ITS Center for Disaster Mitigation and Climate Change Research (Puslit MKPI) ITS<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"color: #0e101a\">Amien said that this incident is a common thing considering Indonesia&#8217;s geographic location is at the junction of the three main world plates, namely Eurasia, Indo-Australia, and the Pacific. The shift will continue until a part of the collision breaks and causes an earthquake. &#8220;The collision path is from Banten to Banyuwangi,&#8221; said the alumnus of Gadjah Mada University.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"color: #0e101a\">Luckily, the 6.7 on the Richter scale earthquake did not have the potential to cause a tsunami.
