ITS Campus, ITS News\u00a0<\/span><\/strong>– There are still many pond farmers in Indonesia who experience difficulties in productivity due to several reasons. From these conditions, A team consisting of students and alumni of Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember<\/a> (ITS) initiated the Eco Aerator to increase the productivity of pond farmers.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

They are Roikhanatun Nafi’ah (student of Industrial and System Engineering Master program, 2019), Prisma Riashuda (undergraduate student of Electrical Engineering, 2018), Rizki Wahyu Ismadani (S1 Electrical Engineering student, 2017), and Jatrifia Jiwa Gandhi and Rizky Nafiar (alumni Electrical Engineering). Joined in a team, they designed an eco-friendly Eco Aerator. “Besides, our Eco Aerator equipped with a\u00a0<\/span>smart Internet of Things\u00a0<\/span><\/em>(IoT),” she explained.<\/span><\/p>\n

Roikhanatun Nafi’a explained that the Eco Aerator made by her team, equipped with sensors. The existence of this sensor serves to maintain the stability of dissolved levels and optimize environmental conditions. “This is expected to increase the productivity of the pond products,” she said.<\/span><\/p>\n

The student who is often called Nafi’ said that, unlike conventional aerators that use diesel, the Eco Aerator made by her team uses renewable energy in the form of solar power. Besides, this tool is equipped with a wheel. “The windmill makes the ponds get a good supply of oxygen,” she explained.<\/span><\/p>\n

This magister student added the idea that was generated trigger by the problems of the pond farmers. These problems include relatively high operational costs but are not supported by the existing yields. “The yields obtained are not too significant or have low productivity,” she said.<\/span><\/p>\n

Nafi ‘said that the work has an affordable price with high operational savings. This is what makes aquaculture farmers in Indonesia need to have this tool. “With several advantages and affordable prices offered, of course, it makes the pond farmers very interested,” she said optimistically.<\/span><\/p>\n

In line with this, currently, the Indonesian government also wants to increase the productivity of pond farmers. This is intended to reduce imports from other countries. “This of course makes the target market for this tool even bigger,” she said.<\/span><\/p>\n

This student from Jepara said that the Eco Aerator based on\u00a0<\/span>smart IoT\u00a0<\/span><\/em>does not have competitors in Indonesia. Not only in Indonesia, Eco Aerators abroad are still not equipped with smart-sensor. “It can be said that our work has a great opportunity to be developed,” she added.<\/span><\/p>\n

Based on this innovation, this team has also won first place in the\u00a0<\/a><\/span>Indonesian Startup Weekend<\/span><\/em>\u00a0competition. In this event, this team managed to beat more than 40 universities and 1,000 startup companies in Indonesia. “This is an extraordinary achievement for our work,” she said.<\/span><\/p>\n

Nafi ‘said that his team’s Eco Aerator is currently still focusing on shrimp farmers. She hopes that this work can be widely commercialized so that it can be utilized by all pond farmers in Indonesia. “We are currently in the process so that our work can be more useful to help export activities in Indonesia,” he said.\u00a0<\/span>(pan\/ITS Public Relations)<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n
