Kampus ITS, ITS News<\/b> \u2013<\/b> Kali ini, pertengahan Maret lalu, mahasiswa Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) kembali menunjukkan taringnya di kancah global. Lewat rancangan <\/span>oil rig <\/span><\/i>(struktur pengeboran lepas pantai untuk mendapatkan minyak bumi, red) mereka, tim Appomatox ITS berhasil merebut gelar favorit serta juara ketiga dalam ajang Oil Rig Design Competition (ORDC) Boreyes 2021. <\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Personel tim ini,\u00a0 Ahmad Qaedi Luthfi menjelaskan bahwa terdapat beberapa perbedaan antara desain <\/span>oil rig<\/span><\/i> yang mereka buat dengan desain <\/span>oil rig<\/span><\/i> konvensional. Dari segi struktur, Qaedi dan tim menerapkan penggunaan besi mangan dengan bentuk <\/span>deck<\/span><\/i> menyerupai sarang lebah. Hal ini ditujukan untuk menampung beban secara maksimal. Selain itu, lanjutnya, tim ini mengatur sistem pemberat sendiri. \u201cIni agar <\/span>rig<\/span><\/i> tetap seimbang ketika terkena gelombang laut,\u201d tuturnya.<\/span><\/p>\n

Tidak sekadar itu, alih-alih menggunakan satu <\/span>derrick<\/span><\/i> (menara bor, red), <\/span>oil rig<\/span><\/i> rancangan Qaedi dan tim memanfaatkan dua <\/span>derrick<\/span><\/i> secara bersamaan. Menurut Qaedi, inovasi ini mampu memenuhi pengeboran minyak tingkat tinggi serta berkapasitas lebih banyak. \u201c<\/span>Rig<\/span><\/i> kami mampu mengakomodasi 150 hingga 2000 ton minyak bumi,\u201d ujar mahasiswa angkatan 2020 ini.<\/span><\/p>\n

Hal lain yang dimiliki oleh <\/span>rig<\/span><\/i> tim ini adalah sistem robot pendeteksi tumpahan minyak, Autonomus Robotic System for Oil Spill. Selain untuk mendeteksi tumpahan minyak, robot berbentuk perahu tanpa awak ini juga berperan dalam mendeteksi kandungan hidrokarbon serta data oseanografi. \u201cJadi, robot ini cukup bermanfaat sebagai pelengkap rancangan <\/span>oil rig<\/span><\/i> kami,\u201d tutur Teknik Kelautan ini.<\/span><\/p>\n

Usut punya usut, masih di bulan yang sama, tim Appomatox ITS juga mengantongi juara kedua dalam ajang ORDC lewat Oil and Gas Intellectual Parade (OGIP) 2021. Dengan beberapa torehan tersebut, tim yang beranggotakan Qaedi, Abdul Quddus Al Kahfi (Teknik Kimia), Firtya Kinanti Ramadhini (Teknik Fisika), Muhammad Ilhan Baihaqi Teknik Geofisika), serta Mega Ristri Maurina (Teknik Kelautan) tidak dapat dipandang sebelah mata.<\/span><\/p>\n

Qaedi berharap agar inovasi mereka dapat memenangkan berbagai kompetisi lainnya. Tidak hanya itu, kami ingin prestasi kami mampu menginspirasi mahasiswa lain agar percaya diri mengikuti perlombaan-perlombaan. \u201cSaya yakin segala hal dapat dipelajari asalkan memiliki kemauan diri kuat dan mampu kerja sama dalam tim,\u201d pungkasmahasiswa asal Gresik ini. <\/span>(*)<\/b><\/p>\n
