Belum lagi dari kota-kota besar lainnya. Oleh karena itu, lima mahasiswa Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) menggagas inovasi yang dapat meningkatkan performa baterai komersial jenis Zinc-Carbon untuk meminimalisasi jumlah limbah.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Mereka adalah Andre Novent Chenady, Adinata Setiawan, Alvin Febrianto, Merlin Liyanti, dan Michelle Veronika Mutiara A. Kelimanya merupakan mahasiswa S1 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.its.ac.id\/tkimia\/id\/beranda\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Teknik Kimia<\/a> ITS angkatan 2018. Tergabung dalam satu tim, mereka menggagas inovasi baru dalam peningkatan performa baterai Zinc-Carbon dengan menambahkan nikel melalui metode electrospray.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Menurut Andre Novent Chenady selaku ketua tim, electrospray adalah salah satu metode <em>coating<\/em> atau pelapisan yang bisa menghasilkan partikel berukuran nano. Dari sekian banyak metode <em>coating,<\/em> tim ini memilih metode electrospray. \u201cHal ini dikarenakan keuntungan metode electrospray yang bisa menambahkan lebih sedikit partikel nikel,\u201d jelas Andre.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Selain itu, lanjut Andre, metode electrospray juga membuat luas permukaan nikel pada batang karbon baterai menjadi lebih luas, sehingga biaya yang dibutuhkan juga lebih hemat. Listrik tegangan tinggi dari suplai energi diatur agar partikel nikel membentuk <em>Taylor cone<\/em>. \u201cSetelah kondisi yang diinginkan tercapai, partikel-partikel nikel akan terpancar dan menyelimuti batang karbon,\u201d terangnya lebih lanjut.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Dikatakan Andre, pelapisan nikel pada baterai Zinc-Carbon dapat meningkatkan performa baterai hingga 130 persen. Dengan meningkatkan performanya, maka masa penggunaan baterai akan semakin panjang. Hal tersebut membuat masyarakat tidak perlu sering-sering mengganti baterai sehingga limbah baterai menjadi berkurang.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Inovasi ini dihasilkan melalui penemuan ide dan riset yang berlangsung selama satu bulan. Ide yang mereka gagas ini berhasil meraih medali emas dalam ajang kompetisi internasional <a href=\"https:\/\/aisef.or.id\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">ASEAN Innovative Science Environmental and Entrepreneur Fair (AISEEF)<\/a> 2021 sekaligus mendapatkan IYSA Special Award.
